Rutgers week. Hot and windy weather, Suh N town

Coach Matt Rhule Thursday Press Conference Notes | Rutgers-Moving the home sideline to the shade was the right move, especially given the heat this weekend-Rutgers has a great defense, Schiano is known for elite DB play-They pressure and blitz a lot-Unsure of Turner Corcoran’s timeline to return-Stefon Thompson will play, Tommi Hill believes he will be able to play - he practiced all week-Jimari cares a ton about his teammates - he’s a football player most of all-The field goal operations has looked great in practice, but we have to see how it looks in-game-Coach Rhule went through the hardest time in Carolina, and it prepared him for the best time in his life here at Nebraska-John Hohl is as talented a field goal kicker that we can ask for, he needs it to all come together (snap, hold, etc..)-Coach Rhule doesn’t promise anything besides the chance to compete - young guys get excited when they see young players making plays (Carter Nelson, Dylan Raiola, Jacory Barney)-Recruits have said “coming to Colorado [vs. Nebraska] was the best experience they had this year”-Once we get some guys drafted this year, it will also help recruiting-You will see a team that has really improved this week, and the #1 problem to solve this week was penalties-Rutgers is 11th in fewest penalties, we are 124th-Trying to foster the environment of development and growth - Brian Buschini is a leader in that regard

It’ll be nice if he’s truly healthy so he and Ceyair can play opposite of each other. Another thing I heard is if this happens there may be a controversy at starting safety. The debate is whether to start Buford Jr or keep rolling with Hartzog.
No debate. #15 looks like a natural corner and Hartzog is still a still slow at safety. Worth shuffling people around if we are serious about winning. Put Buford at his more natural position, FS.

Tell that philosopy to Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, Steve Spurrier, Jimbo Fisher, Bobby Bowden and Tom Osborne.

At the end of the day, their job is to win games. People are gonna talk shit about NU regardless.

Not disagreeing with you in principle, but Rhule always has these rules in place that give him a cushion to always lose 3-4 games a year.

You really thnk Dominic Raiola gives a **** who's protecting his son the best?
There are guys who F up off the field that work hard and are total team guys on the field. I always heard that of Phillips, for instance. We've had some guys that are difficult to coach or just lack desire and may not be getting in trouble off the field. I don't know what Mazzcua did but if he's a pain in the neck then cut him loose. OL is the one position where natural talent is outweighed by hard work and team cohesion.

People talking about the weather when our FG team can't even get a kick off the ground, and the team still collapses in every close game. When will this shit show end.

Best example of this is Bob Devaney. Remember when he “rehabilitated” Johny Rogers and won 2 NC? Nobody cared that he was playing, just that NU was winning. Agree 100% that building culture is important but Rhule gives himself a cushion for mediocrity.

So I take it that scoring a bunch of points in the 4th quarter last week doesn't qualify as closing out a game. I'll stand by Rhule and pound sand.
That was finally not getting in your own way after the entire first half and blowing out a weakling. Opinions vary.

I hope he’s right, but I have serious doubts about how much Husker football he’s seen this year.

I watched Northern Iowa and Illinois bully us at the line of scrimmage and that has me tremendously worried about today.

Absolutely have to get points on the board early and force them to throw.

My first attended husker game was in 1981. I have been to national championship games. My expectations for competence might be outdated I guess.
Nebraska turned into the same program as 3 of its conference mates since coming to the Big Ten ( OSU Michigan Penn State) being the exceptions. Other wise we are the same am everyone else now.
