Injuries and an inability to catch the ball got us smoked today.

We are down a DE, 2 LBers, our starting CB, and our starting LG. Too much for us to overcome, and with so many new kids in the lineup, mistakes were made.

Furthermore, we had 6-8 drops, just downright inexcusable. We have to get back on the practice field and make things right.

We look to right the ship next Saturday vs UCLA.
good to know, I was wondering if Wisconsin turned into the 70's steelers in a week..due to the score

And had we not dropped a TD pass and hit the upright, on a field goal attempt, we would have beaten y’all. Final score was 14-7 in a game that could have gone either way.
More excuses! We used those same excuses the last seven years on one score loses.

Spoilermakers!

Could also see them losing by 50 and the game being over 5 minutes in
Hahaha!

Yeah, I wonder if they maybe shot their wad in that "amazing" game vs "super tough" Illinois.

I don't think they have totally quit on the season BUT getting smacked by 50 might do it.

I think they have something like the 3rd most wins vs top 5 ranked teams.

Edit: a couple quick googles. https://www.espn.com/college-footba.../who-most-wins-vs-no-1-college-football-teams

Also has 10 wins vs top 5 teams while being unranked.
The link you provided was wins against #1 team which stated this......

Purdue, 7

Most recent:
Michigan (1976)

Then there is the list of top 5 victories from their rivals site

1947 Purdue 14 #5 Illinois 7 (Home) --- Holcomb
1950 Purdue 28 #1 Notre Dame 14 (Road) --- Holcomb
1953 Purdue 6 #2 MSU 0 (Home) --- Holcomb
1957 Purdue 20 #1 MSU 13 (Road) --- Mollenkopf
1958 Purdue 14 #5 MSU 6 (Home) --- Mollenkopf
1960 Purdue 23 #1 Minnesota 14 (Road) --- Mollenkopf
1960 Purdue 24 #3 OSU 21 (Home) --- Mollenkopf
1961 Purdue 9 #5 Iowa 0 (Home) --- Mollenkopf
1964 Purdue 21 #5 Michigan 20 (Road) --- Mollenkopf
1970 Purdue 26 #3 Stanford 14 (Road) --- DeMoss
1974 Purdue 31 #2 Notre Dame 20 (Road) --- Agase
1976 Purdue 16 #1 Michigan 14 (Home) --- Agase
1984 Purdue 28 #2 OSU 23 (Home) --- Burtnett
1998 Purdue 37 #4 Kansas State 34 (Alamo Bowl) --- Tiller
2018 Purdue 49 #3/#2 OSU 20 (Home) --- Brohm
2021 Purdue 24 #2 Iowa 7 (Road) --- Brohm
2021 Purdue 40 #5 MSU 29 (Home) --- Brohm

So 3 times since 2000, two in 1 season (2021) is what you would define as consistently beating top 5 teams. As long as we are on the same page.

I read 3 in the past 6 years. I’ll take it. Better than most.

Shocked ND isn’t in that list more tbh

I agree our defense physically beat Rutgers into having a bad game against WI today, no doubt. NU will not return to where we need to be until our offense also beats opponents into having bad weeks after they play us. So far, I do not believe our offense (line) is badass enough to affect our opponents the next week.

I agree with you completely. Our OL isn't even close imo. I'm not sure it will be next year. We need in influx of talent I believe.

If Rhule wants to be that run first physically dominant team we will need to hit the portal and IMO start recruiting a different type of OL. You don't make guys nasty you RECRUIT nasty guys! I know Frost didn't do that. I've seen what appears to be more knock down dominant blocks from Mazzuca and Jenkins than I have in a long time. We need to start recruiting some of these thick lower body guys who have a power based if we wanna run it like that. Especially if we talking about in the interior OL. Hell of take 5 guys out their with bad(meaning good) attitudes on the OL. I swear sometimes we are too nice of a team especially on offense.

If I'm being honest THIS YEAR I think it's time to give the team to Raiola and set everything up off of what he can do. I understand what they wanna do offensively but I don't think we have the RBs nor the OL to do it. I trust our QB throwing and our OL pass blocking more than i do our RBs running and out OL creating push in the run game. You can set the run up off the pass and I pray this is the week we finally do it.

I think your moron administration chased off Tiller

Then you clearly chased off Jeff...because he was looking to leave the second he landed in WL
Woah. Ok. How did they chase off tiller?

And how did they chase off Brohm? And if he wanted to leave as soon as he got there, why didn’t he?

When this was said preseason our resident Purdue expert said there was no way. I’ll trust him on this one.
Preseason, I didn’t think so. Didn’t think it would be this bad either. One of two things happen imo. They get proven P4 coach and pay a ton of money for him, or keep Walter’s and beef up his staff so he has good cast and see what happens next year. Idk if you can take a risk on a lower level guy.
