Rouse N!! Iowa still sucks!! GBR!!

This will be a repeat of Ajai Cornelius, which is too bad.

Also, it won't matter with Donovan Raiola retained

What do you mean “THE”? Iowa has had 4 OL coaches the last 11 years. Two of those are still on staff.

I mean George Barnett is not a good OL coach. Tim Polasek had good OL’s at Iowa and they have fell off the map since he left. Getting worse every year, culminating with possibly the worst OL in CFB this year.

Do you disagree? Or are you implying Brian Farentz will start coaching OL again?

The verdict is still out on Barnett. Linderbaum just went 25th overall. It’ll depend on how the young guys develop. One senior played this year. Everyone else were freshmen and sophomores. Injuries forced guys to play out of position. Not a good combination when you’re that young.

Was the OL terrible? You bet. Is it because Polasek left? Absolutely not. Kirk will continue to churn out OL draft picks like he always has.

I can't believe Rivals hasn't hired him yet. I would pay 9.95 a month for insider info like that!!
I asked him a few weeks back who he worked for and he told me he couldn't say due to an NDA, which I assumed stood for non-disclosure agreement. While it comes off as a cheesy excuse from someone who doesn't have a clear understanding of what that is I've come to appreciate the daily usefulness of it. Imagine all the ways that could halt an unpleasant inquiry. Because, well, you can't say and you can't say why you can't say.
Why were you missing from work yesterday? I am contractually bound not to answer.
NRA is actually pretty good at what he does. I just don't know if it can be put into words what that is.

Playing in the o line is a thankless job. You get clubbed on every play and the only time anybody notices you is if you get penalized or miss a block. I try not to judge too harshly.
I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when our current staff was evaluating last year's film and O line play.

The problem is that film doesn’t tell you what was going through that kid’s head when the ball was snapped. Did he get the protection call? Man if he has to think for even a fraction of a second, he’s beat. I think a fresh start with a new OC will be good for these guys.

I think Rhule already told us what was going through his head when he watched the film. He thought the play calling often put the O Line in a bad position and that's why they didn't have success. I don't know, I obviously don't claim to know what Rhule does.

I think Rhule is loading the bases. If they were put in bad positions like he publicly said then he gets lots of needed depth on the O-Line. If he finds out he is wrong then he has brought in a ton of replacements for the guys who played last year and those guys can be depth pieces.

Rhule not only declined to be critical of the line play last season, he indicated why he thought there was room for optimism. For at least the first part of the season, there was what Frost thought, what Raiola was drilling/coaching and what Whipple was calling. These things didn't necessarily align. But the kids get to hit a reset and still keep their psn coach. I think there will be yet 1-2 new guys in the room to increase competition for spots. I think there is room for optimism.

With the ASU kid likely penciled in at C, that should free up Corcoran to try RT again. The pros really like him, They project him as a 3rd rounder and good enough to play all 5 OL positions. He likely just needs a lot of fine-tuning.

As poorly as Benhart has been for 3-4 years, it might even be worth them taking a look at "Magic" from South Dakota. Sure, he's a frosh, but he's big and physical with pretty good feet. At a minimum see what the kid looks like in that spot in practice.
The "pro" draft analysis guys like him. Not sure the pro team scouts view him as a third rounder.
He needs to start playing up to his potential and he certainly could go third round or higher. Keeps up his current level and he is more than likely a priority free agent.
