I generally like him but I think he has taken on a mythical status. I really don't care if they fire him and replace him with a guy who does pagan rituals on the 50 yard line. As long as we start winning big again.
It's a mythical status because the pods that can't stand Christianity throw a hissy fit whenever he gets mentioned. They want him to disappear, but they're feelings are so hurt by him, they freak out and make him more public and well known than he would ever be without their whining. It is beautiful.

Good dude, I don't mind if he's around. He seems to have realized he can't be super vocal about certain things and has been low key for several years.

thoughts?
There should be one connection to the past and that is it, Ron Brown is ok in that capacity because he has a big impact on kids lives but a small impact on the running of the program. Never should a person be in charge of a 100 million dollar business just because they "understand Nebraska". And I don't think Trev should be in his position as he only was placed in the Omaha job because of his LB skills and then took over in Lincoln because of Omaha and his LB skills. His handling of Scott Frost, keeping him, with the tease of a smaller buyout to then fire him two weeks short of the smaller buyout, conceivably because of emotion, and then replacing him with a guy who covered for woman abusers at LSU merely 18 months ago, to then get raked by Rhules team to the tune of 9 million when Rhule admits he would have come for less. Yikes.

PS: And yes I feel good when a Nebraska guy is in charge, but my brain understands it will likely end in disaster.

For fans who say they don't like Ron Brown I think its important to look at his time at NU " this time around." Ron is not the vocal person he was traveling the state preaching with Mission Nebraska years ago. He has gone on record about this since returning.

I am wondering if some of that "outreach" isn't connecting with past players etc and community events.

I mean I can accept the guy regardless of his super terrible beliefs on some stuff. Now, if he was a fatty or liked fatties? Yeah I'd say bring out the pitchforks. Thats just one thing we as a society should always be intolerant of and just come together as one, the HUMAN race to rid ourselves of. Is fatties. Yep. Fatties.

fatties

That's an interesting take. He can't be vocal about his beliefs but there is no barrier for others. Cultural Marxism it's called.
I think what he was getting at is one or the other. If he wants to be super vocal about his beliefs then he is free to do so as someone that isn't employed by the football program.

Jeez, I would think people would be happy. An openly anti-gay guy has been employed by the university for decades, despite publicity and cries to let him go. It wasn't like he made a homo comment in passing in the hallway. He was speaking at conferences. But I guess some people are never happy.

I’m on Ron browns cultural side but I know enough to distinctly separate what are my views vice my employers.

I’m sure he has made his views known in the years since to colleagues and young men in his charge.

Look when he is representing the University he has to tone it down, it’s just like an editorial from someone at TV station. They put out a disclaimer, I heard him speak good speaker. He understands it now that’s why he had toned it tone a little.

You do not seem to grasp the meaning of American democracy. There is a clear distinction between Church and State in America, something that has rarely been in human history. Like every separation in our society the legal system oversees it and the tendency is for former dominant tribal power such as Protestantism or Catholicism to be held more accountable than minority religions. Obviously if we had a Muslim coach who was using university dollar to denigrate others then there would be a legal option against that coach, but that is rare because Christianity has been and will be the dominant power against our American legal system. I mean how bizarre would it be for our University to outwardly denigrate homosexuals, or for lawyers to do such...but it is within the realm of possibility for the followers of christ and those who receive his love. This is the difference between religion and secular law.

Yep. No fat woman on campus should be enshrined into the school honor code. I'm sick of seeing gorgeous women at sec games and fat coeds at ours.

Its funny that when the scandal broke about the child molestation at Penn St. the week of our game with them everyone turned to Ron Brown. His PUBLIC prayer with players from both programs before the game was one of the best moments in sports.
^^ Nailed it ^^

Maybe not for those who think he's "anti-inclusive." Sandusky has feelings too you know.

The whole separation of church and state is laughable. What it meant was that the government couldn't endorse ONE single church like the church of England as the "official " church.

The last 60 years it comes to mean "no church or no god " Anything anti church is good....

I think we need more heavenly intervention. Just look at things recently

Advocating for the right of an employer to fire or not hire someone because they are gay is anti-inclusive.
How about the right of an employer to fire or not hire someone because they (sic) are anti-Trump being anti-inclusive??? The people in the movie industry do it all the time. No one should have to hide he is homosexual or a conservative Trump guy to get a job. But you f-ing liberal bigots use that litmus test all the time.

So a private owner who has conservative Christian values should be forced to hire someone who is gay… is that correct?

Let me ask you something… if someone is gay, do they really want to work for a private owner with conservative Christian values? Or are they just trying to make life difficult for the owner? Because I gotta say, I don’t envision too many gay people just dying to work for someone who doesn’t agree with their lifestyle.

This is such a weird thread. Despite all the publicity and crying for his resignation by some people, he was kept on. For decades. I don't get why people are so mad. Seems like everyone just needs things to be angry about.

as a orthodox presbyterian theologically, ron brown is a lil too liberal for my tastes...
but I'm glad he's with NU and he does a good job.
