generational differences.
when I was in high school Sinatra played in wichita (his wife was from there). our coaches shut practice down early to go (they grew up in 50s and 60s). when they let us know why, we all had a big laugh at their expense. they just smiled and said we were too young to know good music to a chorus of boos.
when I got home that night my dad brought it up to my mom (they grew up in the wartime era 40s) and she mentioned how my grandfather thought Frankie was a 'horses ass'and no good, when she and my aunt's played his records.
I thought it was interesting to think my generation's opinion matched that of someone born in 1901.
Still think of that when I hear 'today's music sucks'...
