Riley at BB game tonight

1. He truly loves Neb and the university and is planning on retiring here. OR
2. He is sticking around because he is going to be part of the team or university is some aspect.
He owns 2 houses neither of which is in Lincoln. He'll retire back to Corvallis on his meager $6M golden parachute unless another football gig pops up.

That’s definite. Dudes got great connections in recruiting. He could definitely help Frost and Co. Yes he took our job on and wasn’t ready or cut out for it. But he’s got a lot of good to him, in ways he could help. I get the worry of him messing with the players or coaches. But the guy he is, how he is and who he is, I can NOT see him doing that. I think he’d do everything in his power to help Frost and the Huskers, honestly.

He is trying to leave things on good terms and I respect him for that.
I could see him sticking around to meet with our new head coach to help Bray convey recruiting and roster info. It has to help us with player retention to have him so openly still supportive of the university. It was cool to see him and Moos having lunch together the day after he was let go. I don't know if I could be as gracious as he has been.

I hope he has gotten some rest and people are treating him right. I wish we could keep him in some capacity in an admin role.
No question he is a really swell person but the next staff isn't going to coddle players. Once the new coach is named he should finish with the movers and be on his way to Corvallis.

I'm not sure he can "stay and help" when he has been relieved of all his duties as the head coach of the football program. Nice Mike is probably just doing what Nice Mike does.

Being nice.

was he wearing his husker gear? did he drive his out of state car? did he take a uber or lyft? was he eating nachos with MOOS. these are questions that need to be answered.

Never was the contrast with Pelini as clear as this one act.

There will be transfers but guys will stay because Riley encouraged them to stay. And we will never hear about it from Riley.

Years ago I used to attend ASU BB games and Ned Wulk was always there even though after many successful years as coach he was canned when the program dipped. But he too was a good man and I doubt the then ASU coaches minded his presence at all. Wulk and Riley are models for how coaches should handle getting fired as most of them will experience it at least once in their careers. Part of the job.

Helluva guy. Seriously.

I would feel pretty good about Nebraska too, if I were him.

Why wouldn't he?

He's gonna get 6 million reasons to feel good about NU and Moos let him go about as gently as it can be done.

Will feel pretty good about that daily bike ride, and I bet be pretty nice to the people he encounters along the way.

Just a helluva nice guy.

Hip Hip Horray!

Absolute opposite of Pelini. That's for sure.
Stop bringing Bo into this. Totally different because of how SE fired bo and how moos fired MR. Bo was essentially escorted out of the building with no chance to have closure. Moos handled the MR firing with class which allowed MR to follow suit. Bo left with the same classiness that SE offered to him.

Dear EX Coach Riley,

You sir a a true gentleman... thank your for restoring some dignity to the 'N"....you have come to a time in your life where you can relax and enjoy your family and friends without the pressure of 16 hours a day living in a fishbowl.

Time to 'go home' coach. Bless you. Live well and long.

IMHO

True, but let’s say Moos was our AD in 2013-2014. Let’s say Pelini acted exactly the same way. Does Moos handle Pelini any differently? I doubt it.

On the flip side, does Pelini have a different attitude towards the administration if Moos was the AD, and behave more like an adult?
