NU offers a brilliant Life Skills program to specifically address this issue. It helps young people transition into roles of responsibility. If you are never given that chance to be independent, it makes it that much harder when you are thrust into that situations. NU really does seem to offer great support for it's students, genuinely better than most. Unfortunately, this seems to be missed by some parents.
