Those guys that want warm weather climates in the winter, have to look at spring, summer and fall there when it 100+ degrees and you are baking all the time while at Nebraska you might have one or two cold days that you play games. If it is cold during practice they practice in our beautiful indoor facilities. I would pick Nebraska any day of the week rather than bake on the field most of the year in Miami, Tempe, and those southern states.

That is actually humorous. Your post should definitely convince the kids from Southern California, Texas or SEC country.

I would absolutely not want to live in those places. I do not want the heat, let alone trying to wear full pads and try to go through intense workouts in the Miami heat.

Nebraska gets hotter than many coastal places, and more humid.
NFL cold weather stadium and hot weather stadiums are the best sell for recruits regarding weather. You get both here

OK, I'm convinced and will be moving away from Arizona some year soon. Frankly the 60 degree days we have had for the past month have been colder than many locations in the Northeast. I'm finding a warmer climate and would suggest recruits do the same.

Talk to me about summer conditioning and spring and fall football which is what I talking about not winter. There are negatives to any weather climate.

I was talking Miami and Tempe said nothing about California.

It's no big deal, but you responded to this...

I'm with you on the Texas heat and humidity. Would never live there. But can't stand the winter and summer weather in Nebraska either. Colorado, California, or northern Arizona would be fine with me.

It's sad that some people are so defensive about Nebraska weather and believe a thread like this is helpful. College kids like new experiences and wear shorts when old guys like me need a parka. Winning sells programs, period.

If weather is that big of a deal... Why isn't Hawaii amazing every year... or San Diego St.... or New Mexico... or any Florida team not named Florida St., Florida or Miami... or Southern Miss

I know all those team do not play in the P5 conferences, but your not going find better weather than San Diego St. I know for a fact that weather is not a big deal, and not the reason why kids don't come here. Ohio St., Michigan, Penn St., Notre Dame all live in a similar climate to Nebraska. You don't see them struggling.

We win games on the national stage and the big names will come. It is a what have you done for me lately world, and we haven't done s***.

I think teams practice with full pads like 2, maybe 3 days a week during the season. I don't even think that we had two-a-days this past season...&$%@, why we talkin 'bout practice here anyways when we have a regulated state of the art indoor facility???

I like the temp variety that the seasons bring this area. However, we all know the scenery is rather plain in comparison to more forestry, sea, or mountainous areas...

GBR

I thought this was going to be a global warming thread...

Grew up in Midwest and I wouldn't want to live here if I had a choice.
Winter sucks flat out sucks
That's why no one lives here
I don't blame anyone if they stay west or south
I'm on the other side of the fence. Born & raised in NEB. Wouldn't have it any other way. Ya the cold sucks as does part of January & February, but the seasons have a lot to offer.

Um, hell no. Having been born and raised in Nebraska and having lived in Floriduh, there is no comparison. The sun is hotter and humidity is much more uncomfortable in Floriduh, hands down. 95 in Nebraska is like 80 in Orlando. Just sayin'

I totally agree. Born and raised in Nebraska but I have lived in Florida and Ohio. Nebraska is way better. Weather is one factor but more importantly (at least to me) was the people. Ohio wasn't too bad but the people in Florida were the worst.

I am so opposite of this. I would love to have one season...year-round...with temps in the mid-70s and low humidity. Seasons are so overrated.

We (Michigan) run into the same problem and truth be told I have rarely seen weather being the deciding factor. More often than not it is a combined issue (i.e. distance) that I would sum as familiarity...if you are say a kid from FLA the whole experience almost seems foreign...people speak different, sometimes even dress differently, (and yes) the weather patterns are unfamiliar, etc. It just doesn't seem like home (to them) especially when it comes to distance from family and friends which can be a real issue...when I hear a kid say weather is an issue I usually take it as an excuse rather than the real cause...well unless it is a Northern kid in which case when I hear them say they want to play in warm weather I usually read it as a kid saying he is enamored with the half dressed coeds running around campus.

I lived in a lot of different spots, but here is how I rank it

1. San Diego & LA - Can't beat it!
2. Colorado Springs - Pretty Great. Snow melts the next day most of the time & summers are perfect!
3. Nebraska - Love the seasons
4. Yuma, AZ - Super hot summers, but great in the winter
5. Seattle & Portland - The rain blows
6. Alaska (Dutch Harbor, Prince Of Wales Island, Fairbanks, Nome, Anchorage, etc). - Sucks. Cold & Wet
7. Houston - Heat & Humidity are Killers!
