I would point out that the quote you are mentioning actually could be including Nebraska among the "blue bloods", because the teams mentioned afterwards are actually excluded from the "blue bloods category by the word "but".Good article. Sad part is none of the comparisons to "beating the blue bloods" doesn't mention Nebraska. Iowa is mentioned more. Sad
The way that's written, it says they've won occasionally against the blue bloods; but have consistently beat the three teams mentioned, excluding those three from the "blue bloods" category. Considering the series with Nebraska, since Nebraska joined the B1G, is at 4-4, you certainly can't say they have consistently beat Nebraska; but could say they have won occasionally. Iowa is only mentioned once in the article, as one of the three non-blue blood teams that they have beaten consistently. The Wildcats are winning occasionally against the league’s blue bloods, but perhaps more importantly they’ve begun to consistently beat Iowa, Michigan State and Wisconsin.
We need to be a top 5 spender on facilities period. Unfortunately we couldn’t even change the tunnel walk song starting in the early 2000’s b/c of a “tradition” even though the tradition began 8-10 years prior. I don’t even want to think how up in arms the the blue hairs would be if we ever wanted to build a new stadium.
I find it ironic to bring up a Stadium, when the article is about Northwestern's recruiting facilities and uptick, despite what most would consider an underwhelming stadium.
Nebraska's talk of facility upgrades will not start with a new stadium. Why?
Look at Northwestern, for example.
First, look up the definition of ironic. Second, of course our upgrades won’t start with the stadium, however that needs to happen in the not too distant future. There’s no reason talk of facility upgrades has to be limited to “recruiting” facilities. Norwestern can’t fill their current stadium, so it makes sense to prioritize everything else first.I find it ironic to bring up a Stadium, when the article is about Northwestern's recruiting facilities and uptick, despite what most would consider an underwhelming stadium.

Unless he’s from Nebraska, writer would have to be 45-50 years old to truly remember Nebraska being a national power.Good article. Sad part is none of the comparisons to "beating the blue bloods" doesn't mention Nebraska. Iowa is mentioned more. Sad
NW is also 4-4 against Iowa and 3-3 against Wisconsin since Nebraska joined the league. Nebraska was a complete afterthought by the author. No other way to spin it.I would point out that the quote you are mentioning actually could be including Nebraska among the "blue bloods", because the teams mentioned afterwards are actually excluded from the "blue bloods category by the word "but".

As for the rest of the article, good for them on their nice facilities. Their current high ranking (at least for them) probably has a lot more to do with the fact they have 10 recruits committed then any sort of huge jump in quality of recruiting. They have one 4-star, who is basically a home town kid, and a bunch of 3-star. I'd be willing to bet by signing day, Nebraska is ranked above Northwestern.
Well we tried to change the tunnel walk last year and it was a disaster. Whatever you change it to, you're probably going to get more people who don't like it than do. That's one of the reasons why it's best just to keep it same, as we found out last year.We need to be a top 5 spender on facilities period. Unfortunately we couldn’t even change the tunnel walk song starting in the early 2000’s b/c of a “tradition” even though the tradition began 8-10 years prior. Football players using Lake Michigan as a cold tub?? Yikes!
I honestly haven't followed the quality of facilities. What needs upgrades. What improvements could/ should be made? Have heard bigger weight roomWe will be just fine in our recruiting this year. That said... I am glad to see Moos talking about upgrades to our facilities. We need major upgrades sooner rather than later. Given our demographics, and the fact that no recruit in high school right now was alive when we were last relevant, we had better be able to “wow” recruits with our facilities. We need to have the best facilities in the B1G.
All of this talk about us being a “blue blood” program is certainly important in terms of our history and, therefore, what our expectations are. But let’s face it, we haven’t been an elite, top ten, program in 20 years. We have had a sad succession of flawed coaches, and that includes Solich. I think we now have the coach who can bring us back to elite status. We also still have one of the most passionate fan bases in the nation. Lincoln surprises recruits with what a cool city it is. So let’s not get complacent on facilities.
Bring back the paratroopers and waterfalls!!!We need to be a top 5 spender on facilities period.
