Recruiting updates 2023-24

What is the latest on Gatlin Bair? He has visited MI and OR but are we still in the lead?

He is supposed to visit in the Fall but he is taking a mission so really a 2026 guy

Also, believe it or not Boise St might be the team to beat ... home

We will most likely be done at WR shortly after this weekend with the three visitors and Smith already verbally

No idea where we really stand with Campbell but I'm guessing staff would find a place for him

I can understand Raiola going to Georgia. Nelson picking them wouldn’t make much sense. He would just be another guy there. Getting to the NFL as a TE depends a great deal on getting touches and NU has actually done a pretty good job of getting TEs to camps lately. His odds of getting touches at Georgia aren’t nearly as good at UG.
I was thinking the same thing. Just because he will play for one of the best teams in the country is no guarantee
he'll be able to show the NFL enough on field performance.

For the record, I think Benning will be coming early next week for his OV. If I recall, he has always been a guy who wants 100% of the coach's attention and not share that attention with 10 other recruits.

He said He wants to make a decision after the season. Nebraska is not waiting.
At one time, I thought Benning was a lock for this class. Now, I’m not so sure. Donovan Jones, another in-state defensive back took an official visit earlier this week, and Rex Guthrie, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound safety from Colorado is taking an official visit today.

If the Huskers close with both of those guys, that will be seven defensive backs. I’m sure there could be a move to linebacker in the mix maybe with Braylen Prude. But the class is filling up quickly and that could mean there isn’t a spot for Benning who said consistently he wants to decide in December.

I wonder if he realizes it’s a team sport and he’s not gonna ever get 100% of anybody’s attention 🤷🏻‍♂️
No clue. Rumor is that his dad is out of town this weekend and he wanted Damon to be there. I just remember a story where he went on an unofficial on like a Thursday because he wanted one on one time with Cooper. Maybe he just doesn't want to be peer recruited, again no clue. But the dead period starts on Tuesday, so he would have to be down there Monday only.

From what Damon has said on the radio he sounds like a kid who isn’t going to be pressured in to making a choice.

I'm not as certain that Caleb wants to go to NU, maybe he does, but seems like someone that might want to go his own direction

I was under the impression that NU and Hall had basically cooled on each other. Now CB's from Munson. Anyone have any insight to this?
Hall wasn't answering Nebraska's calls for quite some time and his lack of interest in NU continued with the new staff. But in finding out that those SEC offers weren't commitable things changed. It was reported that Hall ran blazing fast at the Tennessee camp & still didn't get an offer (commitable). But when his Dad & little brother came to Rhule's camp & Dad sought out HCMR to chat.... things started to change. I think Nebraska's reported disinterest in Hall only came down to the fact that they were moving on after Hall wouldn't show one iota of interest. Kaelin being on board certainly helps but I think it really came down to Hall realizing a couple of weeks ago that he didn't have anywhere to commit. So he started looking at K-State and now the Huskers. Of course, then the Vols finally came around with a "real" offer but it might be too late!

I think a few of these big DB's that are committing like Braylen Prude will end up adding weight and dropping down to LB.
That was how Nebraska became one of the fastest defenses in the 90's. LBs became rush ends. Safeties became LBs. Of course, the thing that made it all work was having studs in the middle of the D-line.

I am leaning that direction too. I think he wants to go to Iowa, personally
Given Clester’s kid’s experience at Iowa that seems like a really dumb idea. DB said on the radio a while back that he really liked Wisconsin’s DB coach.

If we use Clester's kid's exeriences as the litmus test for where other players go to school, then that would leave a list of zero acceptable schools. ha ha ha

So now we have the Bellevue West WRs both announcing live on Instagram tomorrow in the mid-morning.

Soooooooooo either they are both coming to Nebraska or they are both cancelling their visits to Nebraska because no way in hell do you announce for someone else, on the way to an OV to a school you aren't picking. Right?
