you love it.

my posts energize you.

first guy you reply to in the morning, last guy you reply to before bed.

yes, I'm more laid back and understand vs being a raging pyscho.
I know. I just said this.

your passion and zeal have been beaten out of you.

but a little comes back when reading/responding to me. I'm your favorite poster. you constantly refresh this page hoping I've posted something that can fan what little flame you have left.

It's called being an adult and being well adjusted.

Ironically, you replied to me, so you felt the need for some reason. I own you.

When I was in high school, I was at the hall county fair with some of my buddies. Another guy I had never met walked up to me and said he heard I was talking crap about him and tried to pick a fight. I ignored him and walked on. He then tried to pick a fight with one of my buddies.

This thread brings back nostalgic memories. Thanks, KK!

you're welcome, Tim.

nobody loves reading my posts and posting about me more than those who have me on "ignore"

Donny has been doing a pretty damn good job. His unit faced loaded boxes all year long because there was no passing threat, yet still managed to lead the big 10 in rushing. He has also put together a nice class of Olinemen.
Our O Line made mistakes and had penalties no more than any other line in the league. They were certainly not responsible for all the turnovers. Donovan Riola losing maybe a single starter from this year combined with some seasoning in action with his '23 Freshman and his incoming class shows a lot of promise for 2024-25 on the field. These Coaches have brought in more high impact Freshman on both sides of the line that were not commits when they arrived than I can recall ever before at Nebraska.

I'll just say this... when Benhart originally signed everyone was excited much like we are today with Brix, things went downhill for that kid fast and he took Obscene amount of hate... Rhule comes in and says he's an NFL caliber player and most of us laughed.... now after two years with DR one could make the case that he was the Offenses MVP this year... granted, the offense is rough but the point is still there that Benhart played well this year and I'd equate that to his development with DR

I know the word "identity" is being thrown around a lot. I think most defensive coordinators we played against might argue that our offensive "identity" was very clear.

We had 2 qbs who had turnover issues and were not exactly Dan Marino accurate when they did throw the ball.

Hence, we ran it, a lot, which normally would be fine but we also had many injuries on the offensive line and running backs who also turned the ball over. Made for some tough sledding.

I think, if we can have an accurate passing and dependable quarterback back there, teams won't be able to stack the box and we will look like a much better team.

I think if they can continue to develop Purdy, he showed great promise. We'll see if they can pick up a proven qb in the portal.

I do agree that some of Satts calls were a bit puzzling like passing when he should have been running.

It sucks that were not in a bowl again but I'm gonna be looking forward to next season, trusting that our coaches don't screw up their quarterback selection, like they did this year with Sims.
On play calling it is challenging enough for an OC to figure out what the opposing defense is drawing up then when none of your scholarship QB's have shown an ability to successfully execute plays on a regular basis your job becomes almost impossible to achieve anything.

So no credit given for rebuilding programs that were in dire straits?

Context

There was no Transfer Portal/NIL back then.

The days of most players staying at one program for 4-5 years to build the program are mostly over.

We're going to have to start paying up just to keep the good young players that we have.

exactly. Having to create game plans for 3 very different and highly volatile QBs is rare.

Only two offensive players got postseason recognition with honorable mentions, Both played for Raiola.

Nebraska football, where slumming it feels like progress.
I think most people saw progress on the depleted offensive line and hope with the talented recruits coming in.

Not sure anyone is going to throw a parade about it, but in the process of building this thing up there were positives with one of the most important position groups.

Some posters on here will yell and scream from their soap box there wasn't. Hence the four page thread..

The average guys will stick around. The scholarship, cost of attendance payments, and access to girls is still a pretty attractive package deal for most players.

Hell I would have paid to be able to say I was on the team just for the chicks. I had a roommate who was a walk-on punter who rarely suited and the girls wouldn’t leave him alone. Not just any girls either. The guy in our house who actually played a lot used to hide when gorgeous women came around looking for him. 😮

Man, Ben Gay all around after the contorting and reaching to make Donovan F'n Raiola the MVP this year. Nebraska football, where slumming it feels like progress.

Didn't have to twist myself up a whole bunch to see his group was the best group on that side of the ball.

Low bar for sure, but it's still true.

Maybe finishing 2nd in rushing yards in the big ten isn't that big of a deal.

My ONLY gripe with that last statement in general is that while true, NU still didn't have that one guy that dominated this year and most of this is from the QB... is that an OL thing, a talent thing or a scheme thing or a combination thereof...

I'll be giddy when NU gets a guy that's performing on the level of Abdullah/Green/Burkhead/Helu/etc... Start pounding the rock that way (sprinkle in some FB) so the QBs aren't having to force things to happen and suddenly everything changes on that side of the ball

Well it also be nice to see one rb get multiple touches in a row before being subbed out for.

I never understood the rb rotation all year long. Even when the room was healthy the rotation didn't seem to make any sense.

As someone who rotated with another back, it never mattered to me. They have a number of plays/hits that they want a back to take in part to try to keep them available.

Lloyd's emergence as the nation's leader in 50+ yard TD catches (tied with Marv Harrison Jr) was the best thing that happened on offense this year

by a country mile
Sure is a bright spot. Considering all I've heard about his work ethic and that he doesn't need to be told twice, you gotta think he's gonna make a big jump between now and fall 2024. Dude barely started the position.

I was so tired of the trash talk on this coach over the past two years. He may not have improved the OL fast enough for some, but showed development every step of the way. Dumbshits such as Kong claimed its all about his QB nephew. This now looks to be the guy to finally be rebuilding a long missed O pipeline. I hope the naysayers can start giving credit for something we've sorely needed for 10-15 years.

He's not even on my list as a problem moving forward. Some guys simply see something early and go to the grave with it as if guys don't get better or worse . I understand the jury being out on Raiola and honestly I actually do think his nephew had some bearing on him being here. That said that guy had improved our OL. They have improved more this year than any other offensive position and it's not even close.

Guys who don't know the game spew that foolishness. Anytime who had watched knows he's gotten our OL better. That's what you want from a coach.

Holla

I don't think he's a good coach but whatever. If no movement happens this year, we're just going to find that out over time. The fact that we had Corcoran at LT for the first half of the season is alone a firable offense. It's not a surprise our OL got immediately better as soon as he went out and shouldn't have taken half a season and an injury to figure that out. Raiola's been here longer than anybody else, that's completely on him that he didn't have a better option there.

all good points... not making excuses one bit for DR, however, as I look at the team in general... yes, we had young players in games out of pure necessity (WR/RB in particular) but I also got the impression that Rhule & Co purposely kept a lot of guys back for the future of the program...

I can see a case where Teddy needed time to get back to a rhythm and they were'nt going to risk putting Freshman on the OL even in the 2 deep... so they rolled with what they had...

And if Corcoran’s a better guard than who we were using, why ‘piece-mail’ it in to start the year? Left Tackle seems like an important position to use someone at, just to get by.
