Looks like we may have a very good weekend coming up.

247 Sports is showing Kurt Rafdal committing to N after leaving Indiana, shoring up a TE issue. Next, we have Jamire Calvin looking like he's a lock. Now, we're starting to see some Greg Johnson and Joseph Lewis leans. What about Lenoir??

Man, fingers F-ING crossed!!

If we get Rafdal, that's not a plan B guy. That's an upgrade over Letaio.

My only concern now is landing top linemen. We need 1-2 more offensive and defensive savages and then everything else can be just gimme pick-ups. I really do hope we offer Bradley from Bellevue West. Who knows if he'll make the leap to being a stud at Nebraska, but he is the best running back talent in the 2017 class in the state, might as well snag him. Also, hoping next year we pick up Moses Bryant; that guy looks incredible as well.

Rafdal+Allen+Jurgens is quite the TE hall for the future.
Thoughts on Allen? Saw a basketball pic of him the other day. If he weighs 200 lbs I'd be shocked. He'll need at least 2 yrs of training table by the looks of it.

Jurgens looks like a legit 230 right now.

I've never watched football videos of Allen...but I have seen basketball videos and he moves very well for how tall he is and has good hands. Not sure if that means he will be good on the football field but at the very least he has the physical tools.

IMO, Jurgens needs to play wherever the hell he's best at and not at what position he "could" play to help fill a need. I still cringe when I think of Baker Steinkuhler and how we took a 5 start AA tackle and turned him into a decent DT.

Yeah, how did that go again? I forgot. Was Steinkuhler supposed to be an OT but was converted to a DT? I forget, but I vaguely remember that the position we put him in was not the best fit for him, and he was a 5 star monster, so we maybe wasted his talent?

"One five-star participating in the all-star game and who NU will have to wait on a final decision from until signing day is wide receiver Joseph Lewis, who has long liked the Huskers in the recruiting process but is also from Los Angeles and clearly also drawn to the nearby USC program on a hot streak.

Lewis has said before he might like to get away from the noise of his hometown. "But as it gets closer to the time to make a decision, I think more about staying closer to home," he told the Rivals USC site, TrojanSports.com, this week. "I grew up a USC fan and I have an opportunity to go to the school I've dreamed of playing at since the Reggie Bush days."

That does not sound good.....

It cost the kid millions of dollars.

Nah, lots of kids end up picking another school over their childhood dream school. Lewis obviously loves it at Nebraska and I'd say even more than USC, because they are still in the picture. Hopefully he'll pick what is going to be best for his future, not what's in his past as a kid. If that turns out to be USC, so be it.

Yeah, if he'd just had the Rivals and Scout recruiting analysts as coaches because they obviously knew more about his potential and best position fit than the Husker coaches.

About the dumbest post I've read on here in awhile. The kid was one of the top OL in the country at one of the highly most sought after positions in the NFL and those idiots put him on the DL where he was nothing but average.

Getting Lewis would be sweet. It would make me the happiest I have ever been in my life. Lol.
Not really. Well.... maybe. RollingLaugh

He was never going to play in the NFL despite his talent. He had/has a pre-existing medical condition that would have likely prevented it. I was shocked frankly he played as much as he did for NU.

We never saw his talent as he was busy rotting away on the DL.

Lewis' latest remarks don't sound good but they don't sound all that bad, either. From my perspective they suggest what many of us thought: we were at the forefront of his mind throughout the summer and fall. That much hasn't changed. It seems that what has is his uncertainty surrounding his other options, with USC now neck and neck with Nebraska. Nebraska still remains one of his top options.

Admittedly, I do not follow recruiting as closely as some, and some with well-regarded opinions on here were basically saying Lewis to Nebraska was a done deal as of weeks ago. So, maybe something has changed for the worse.

In any case, we're still not out. Also keep in mind he was talking to USC reporters.

Also keep in mind he is probably 17 years old.

Yes, and he has liked us this entire time, but never enough to pull the trigger, for whatever reason (perhaps due simply to a plan to wait until NSD no matter what). So, at least far as I know, we're no further from securing his commitment than we were weeks and months ago. But others know more than me, and there have been a lot of CB predictions going USC's way recently.

Yep. And personally, I am sick and tired of this new-fangled, "crystal ball", gimmicky, clickbait bullshit, from self anointed "experts" who don't know much more than you and I do about where these 17 year old kids are going or what they are thinking.
I think our coaches actually have a much better read on the situation than any of these experts do.
We will all just have to do this the old fashioned way. We will have to wait and see what happens.

I wouldn't say that's an accurate assessment. Some of those national guys are 80 90% success rate.

That's a bit higher than the coin flip that happens around here. Sometimes you buck the CB trend though, a croot pick your school.

Really? 80 or 90%. Shazaam. I stand corrected. I just get frustrated I guess by how all over the map they seem to be over a two or three month period. But maybe that is just my perception

Schaefer and Bruntz rarely change their picks and go off of conversations they personally have with the recruits, their families, coaches and teammates. These are very solid guys and NOT dart throwers with their picks.
