We are staying at a hotel about 10 miles north of Arrowhead by Worlds of Fun. We aren't interested in tailgating, but want to make sure we get into the parking lot before it gets full. I prepaid $50 for parking. What time should I plan on arriving at the stadium for the 8 PM kickoff? Will I-435 be badly clogged before the stadium? Is the parking lot one of those where people arrive 5 hours early and take 5 parking spaces to set up their tailgate, or does the Arrowhead staff keep a lid on that.

Back in the 80’s or 90’s (I forget) when we played Oklahoma State it was a mess coming from the North. Traffic was at a standstill. my 3 boys and I jumped out of the car about a half mile from the stadium and ran to get there just as they kicked off. Either try to get off the interstate early or come WAY EARLY.

It won’t be quite as clogged as for a Chiefs game, and the presumed large number of people tailgating will spread out the arrival times. But I still think you should plan to get to the parking lot by 6:00 pm. Everyone prepays for parking so that doesn’t save any time. Bring drinks and snacks in case you end up getting there earlier and need to kill time before going inside.

Waaaay back in the day I saw U2 at Arrowhead and parking and traffic control was a mess as it appeared to me that the regular company at the time was not hired to manage that for that concert. Maybe things have changed and a local can be a better resource of current information , but with any event over 10k it’s best to get there early, IMO.

6 of us at the Hotel Lotus, supposedly the 2nd closest hotel. We'll be walking from there but I'm hoping arriving at regular check-in time won't result in any endless traffic waiting. I wouldn't mind jumping in the pool as I start the refreshment portion of the day.

I will be working a full day and then head to the stadium. Taking the next day off.

Ughh people still park at stadiums? We’re Ubering from downtown for sure.
My experience at places like Iowa City and Minneapolis is getting the Uber to the stadium is no problem. It is finding one after the game that can take a long time, and pickup might be a long way from the stadium.

Thanks to you and some other posters. Sounds as if I will leave the hotel at 5:30 and arrive at the stadium around 6.

We stayed the nite in the power and lite district last weekend on 26th floor and could see the stadium...couldnt help but look forward to that game as I stared at it with alcohol in hand!!!

Many trying to arrive at the stadium near the tail end of Thursday evening rush hour…not a good combination.

It will be chaotic unless you know some of the back ways. Winking
