Great win yesterday because of the fact that injuries have totally depleted this team's offensive capabilities.
Props to Morgan Jr., S. Cotton and B Reilly (spelling?). They stepped up when called upon.
Huge game for T. Newby. He is showing us things this year that we have never seen from him before and has become a leader by example. My favorite run of his was in the 4th quarter when he left the DL behind with a quick move got the first down and then bulldozed some poor DB....total stud.
Tommy is hurting, it is obvious and his weapons have been taken from him. He is still getting it done. Tough guy and a great game from him despite the mistakes. Langsdorf is a keeper....sometimes we are scratching our heads but then when you realize what injuries he was dealing with.....he did great. Same to the OL and the OL coach.
Defense was great and the DBs are a huge strength. Banker is a solid coach and that has to be obvious to everyone by now.
My concern......Football has turned into a war of attrition. Both college and the NFL....it is not who wins but more about who is left standing at the end of the year. I have a feeling that the last half of the season could be difficult as we are losing so many bodies each week that it is bound to bite us. I see Wisconsin coming up and Iowa at the end of the schedule and know that they like power running. Will we have the bodies? Will our offense even have people to run it? Those are my concerns for the last half of the season.
