Too early to have any ideas yet about actual projected depth chart?

Pretty excited to actually see how some of the position battles shake out. Particularly who might be 2nd string at certain positions getting decent playing time. (even if it is situational, for example a Guy Thomas in obvious passing situations)

8 years? I see that a lot on here as both TMart and TArm were 4 year starters...

Zac Lee 2009...
TMart 2010-2013 (injured in 2013)
TArm 2013-2016

7 years of athletes/RBs playing QB :)

Finally, we will hopefully have several years of quality passer QBs :D

But he was a definitely a dual-threat QB...to the offense. Brutal passer AND runner.

Was pretty good in this game:

Lee had his most complete game in three months against Arizona in the Holiday Bowl. He connected on 13-of-23 passes for 173 yards, including a career-long 74-yard touchdown pass to Niles Paul. He also posted career highs in the run game, toting the ball 18 times for 65 yards in the 33-0 rout of the Wildcats.

Zach Lee is back and he's here to stay!

Screw the depth chart ...

When are the blackshirts going to be handed out? And as a follow up .. Is the ark st game going to be televised?

Who cares, I'll be watching it on the North End Zone big screen, probably from the parking lot while grilling out and drinking beers. I would still like it to be on TV though.

Maybe it will be on pay-for-view

I wonder how good Zac could have been had he not been injured
Never had a clear picture on Lee's health the year before Martinez. And I don't think he was healthy the year TMart first tore it up.

Yep, in what people remember as his best game by far as a husker, he threw for 57% completions and ran for 3.7 yds/rush. Seriously, the guy was truly awful...like if he went to a Monte Christo QB camp after the 2009 season, no one would have questioned it.

some have held on to the zac lee was good narrative because of how butthurt they were when TM started in 2010. zac lee was never good.

Played injured for much of 09, not in the offensive plans the following year, as that was Year 1 of the 7 year TMart/TA ride. So Lee's injury was a mitigating factor in his play that year.

No rectal pain here. TMarts QB play was exciting and frustrating, sometimes on the same play . I did feel bad for Zac, as we never did get to see what he could do healthy.

I think Lindsay ends up higher on that list. I've seen nothing that indicates that Hoppes isn't #1 at TE.

3. Andrew Bunch
RS - Tristan Gebbia

FB/HB - Luke McNitt

3. Gabe Rahn

TE- Tyler Hoppes

Connor Ketter was #2 going into Fall camp, but I've heard Snyder and Stoll have both bypassed him. All 4, and even Englehaupt likely play though.

LG - DJ Foster
2. Boe Wilson or Jalin Barnett

C- Cole Conrad

Wilson is listed twice because he will be inserted at either position as the first choice. He's good enough to start, but Nebraska has two of the top Offensive Guards in the Big Ten for once. I expect Foster to have a big season.

I think the key to the season is having a healthy O-line. If they can stay healthy and Wilson can play the swing guy in the middle and Farniok can spell guys out at Tackle, I bet we win the division.

But that's the catch. Keeping the line healthy. Seems like it hasn't happen in a million years. And I know all teams have injuries but not every time loses a vital lineman early every year. Some teams get lucky and stay healthy. I think that's the one take away from camp this far. I think the elimination of 2 a days will fix a lot of that. Even as a player, I use to think they were almost counter productive. You've got to listen to your body and let it rest some.

Healthy line and a smart Cav will make this team loads better. I know we've lost depth in the d-backfield and at wide out but I believe we have athletes there who can hang.

Bootle is an interesting dude. Honestly I never expected much from him. I knew he was fast. I knew he was an athlete but word was not out if he was a football player. He comes from a part of the country that guys don't fall under the radar as much. So to see him raise up the depth chart makes me think either a) the unit is way too thin b) he's developing. I'm taking the optimistic approach on that one until proven otherwise.

Every where else, I think we are fine. WR is thin but we have a great core, I believe. And as long as we stay healthy, we only need a few of them. Trust me, WRs want the ball all the time. They don't like sharing it. Ha...So having 5 or 6 really good guys in my opinion is all you need (assuming we stay healthy). The pros don't use 8 or 9 WRs. Julio Jones plays a lot of snaps. Granted we don't have a guy like Julio, not yet anyways, but we aren't playing the Carolina Panthers either. Our WRs are good enough to play with anyone. So should our QB. It all comes down to health of our O-line.

Agreed on your thoughts about the O-line staying healthy. I have a theory that a good offensive line is more likely to stay healthy than a bad offensive line, as I think a lot of the injuries occur when defenders get penetration and someone falls awkwardly on one of the offensive lineman's legs. So when an offensive line is better at preventing that penetration, the likelihood of injury should decrease. I have never attempted to do the research to support the theory, just something I've thought about over the years when seeing the injuries. Thoughts?

Some comments/questions about the bolded names above based on articles:

From Sam McKewon's article 5 days ago:
The two-deep — Carlos Davis, Mick Stoltenberg and Freedom Akinmoladun are the 1s while DaiShon Neal, Peyton Newell and Khalil Davis are the 2s"

When I read the article, I took it as Khalil was behind Freedom only because of the order he listed it.

Has Quayshon moved to ILB? Honestly not sure. An article back in March said:
Other backups at outside linebacker include Quayshon Alexander, Ben Stille and Tyrin Ferguson.
I know Stille moved to DE, so maybe Q moved as well.

Tony Butler might not be set at a certain position:
Butler's new role? Redshirt freshman Tony Butler worked at corner Thursday after playing safety last season. The 6-2, 215-pound Butler was ranked as the No. 1 safety in the state of Ohio by Scout.com, while both ESPN and 247Sports ranked him among the top 40 cornerback prospects.

Will Cav even rotate linemen at all this year?

Based on Cav's comments last year, Wilson, Raridon, and Farniok may not even get to play this year unless the players above them get injured.

Not sure why the impatience with Alex Davis. He is very young and has not been playing football very long
Certainly he is athletic but give him a little time to learn the finer points of the game. As I recall he first went out for FB the spring before his senior year.

Alex Davis is one of those guys that was listed as "made strides" between spring and fall camp somewhere. I think the nervous meter of Bray went down a little bit in his interview the other day on the LB group because the OLB showed more improvement.

Because he's so far behind that it might take too long for the light to turn on. HE'S a great athlete, but not a good football player. Sedrick King is a marginal athlete. Guy Thomas could steal the spot by league play.

fair to say thats our weakest spot on the team?
