Portal Combat (Hoops Edition)

i'm guessing b12 teams said 'no thanks' to eddie. he has a lot of personal baggage and a momma who is relentless.
That definitely kept some teams away but for a program like Colorado, he’s enormous upgrade over the post player he’s replacing. Surprised he ended up with the Buffs.

i guessing he didn't have many alternatives to cu in the power six. but i was surprised as well thinking he'd end up at iowa state or nebraska.

Arkansas, Florida and Xavier showed a lot of interest. Outside of UCLA and Arizona, I also think anyone in the PAC 12 would have gladly taken Lampkin. Big 12 schools probably saw him as too high-maintenance.

One reason Lampkin might do well in Boulder is that absolutely nobody ever criticizes CU basketball. If they are decent (4th or so in the PAC) people get mildly excited. If they suck, nobody cares.

Yeah that's surprising. I thought he was the Creighton starter most likely to return.

Maybe Nembhard got tired of the Gotta-get-Shareef-his-minutes rest periods early in each half.
I think he is off to Zoma, I mean, 99% of the basketball playing population is picking Zona over Creighton.

Can't blame him if that's the case, plus he might have a connection with Tommy Lloyd from his brother's Gonzaga days. Zags are also interested, apparently.

Still need a point guard badly....I am not sold on Sallis being a point guard....Javian McCollum is intriguing, but he's small. A backcourt of McCollum, Lawrence, and Tominaga would be very under-sized.

Farliegh Dickinson beat Purdon't in the NCAA tourney with the shortest team in Div. 1. Height isn't everything, as the Big Ten seems to find out every year in March.

Unless Fred hits the jackpot in the portal, I think Lawrence will be the primary ball-handler next year. He's more of a combo guard, but late in the year he showed some good distribution skills.

I think NU's biggest need is a wing player who can score. I really liked the Serbian kid from Utah as an under-the-radar guy. But unfortunately Mick Cronin liked him too, so he's off to UCLA.

? / Hoiberg
Keisei Tominaga / Lawrence
Brice Williams / Lloyd Jr
Juwan Gary / Breidenbach
Rienk Mast / Keita

I'm not sure where Wilcher fits in if we get Latrell Wrightsell Jr. We need Sallis to run the point.

This is what I was talking about man. People generally agree in the spring and summer, Fred DOES get decent players from the portal every year. Then he throws a lousy product out there in the winter. Clockwork.
Yea, any result aside from the season being over in January for the 5th straight season will be shocking

Sad

Two solid pickups here. Mast seems like a much better version of Briedenbach. I wouldn’t mind running this lineup out there but would prefer to replace Wilcher. As of now I see the lineup as follows:

PG) Lawrence/Hoiberg/McPherson
SG) Tominaga?/ Lloyd Jr./ Grace III
SF) Williams/Wilcher
PF) Gary/Breidenbach
C) Mast/ Keita

Yeah I'd rather dump Wilcher and add Wrightsell instead, but Wilcher has already used his one-time transfer, so it's unlikely he will leave.

McPherson may end up being the odd man out, if McCollum and/or Sallis commit here.

Williams looks solid, some nice backcuts and he can rise up with the jumper. He's much better than some of the guys we ran out their last year.
can he lead a major conference team in scoring and do so efficiently?

guess we'll find out, but the list of guys who've done that is extraordinarily short

This can get us to 500 in the league
