Good to see all his coaches and teammates out to support the Polar Bear.
Yep, very good football player but elite wrestler. If he committed to wrestling, would not be surprised if he was an Olympian. Happy he’s able to do both.Nash out of high school was rated the best overall heavy weight in the country. He could go undefeated and win the NCAA heavy weight division if he sets his mind to it. Never underestimate this young man!
omg -1 for throwing headgear 17-13
Sherman said he dropped ~40lbsHow much weight is he dropping to do this?
Wrestling has to be one of the most intense sports to watch. I can only watch for short periods of time.
Just an awful idea
You are going from a meatgrinder of a season where basically your body is getting worn down the entire season and by the end most are playing through all kinds of ailments and then jumping into another high level sport that wears on the body while at the same time cutting 40-50 pounds
No time for optimal recovery between seasons
There is a reason why NFL players have stipulations in their contracts that prevents them from doing stupid shit like this
We need to decide if our football program is closer to an nfl type program or North Dakota high school football
This wrestling decision would suggest we are a lot closer to a high school operation than a program that takes football seriously.
You SOB!
I coach bowling! Do we order fries and tater tots during practice?!?!
Sure!
But...you know what, you are right.
Goodness. The discipline it took to lose 40 lbs…..
Top 15? Let’s go Top 5!Nebraska has a top 15 wrestling program. NU has the Oklahoma 4A Wrestler of the Year on the roster at that weight class, and I suspect Nash is working with him. Hardly a North Dakota HS operation. Frost and company took the kid and made him less athletic. Rhule is trying something different.
Not likely.Nash out of high school was rated the best overall heavy weight in the country. He could go undefeated and win the NCAA heavy weight division if he sets his mind to it. Never underestimate this young man!
Silas at 197, when the point was deducted. The penalty seemed to occur in an early match. Any idea who it was on?
Doubt it, as they add team points at hwt, and no Pinto tonightjeesh 17-17 major dec at HVY both teams received a team penalty UNI is tough a team and just a tough match up
tie breaker --Huskers but they will drop in rankings imo
he's from north, his sister was the principle at adams schoolI hope Polar Bear can perfect the claw hold like this wrestler on the 1960-62 teams. Incidentally, Jim Raschke also played tackle on the football team.
Say what? Is that the Baron?I hope Polar Bear can perfect the claw hold like this wrestler on the 1960-62 teams. Incidentally, Jim Raschke also played tackle on the football team.
I thought he was from Germanyhe's from north, his sister was the principle at adams school
I love the fact that a ton of football players were there! That’s the college experience at its best!
No. He's not quick. We saw that going back to his HS film. He relies on strength and size to win matchups, and he's going to be negating a lot of that at a smaller size.If Nash does well through the wrestling season and gets back up to 300-310ish for the fall, anyone see the potential for a Sapp type season from him in the fall??
I'm personally shocked. I thought you would have been super positive about this move. You're usually so upbeat.No. He's not quick. We saw that going back to his HS film. He relies on strength and size to win matchups, and he's going to be negating a lot of that at a smaller size.
I'm usually right.I'm personally shocked. I thought you would have been super positive about this move. You're usually so upbeat.
He will maul and have the strength at 310-315 but think the explosiveness that he can have will be able to be used more at that size.No. He's not quick. We saw that going back to his HS film.
