Perfect camera angle on winning TD catch

I guess I don't see a force out either...Had a better view from my living room tv and still think it was a screw job by the officials! I think it all depends what side of the fence you are on. Congrats to the Huskers on the win. They have had a lot of heart breaks so its fair some go their way this season imo!

Glad you aren't the decision makers for the B1G, who said the officials got it right...

I see what you're saying, and yes, the side of the fence is important... But many knowledgable people have now come out and stated they had no issue with the call on the field.

I freely admit it felt like we got away with one... When the refs were huddling up, I felt sure it was gonna be overturned. It was only after reading commentary yesterday that like the call was acceptable.

IMO the BIG officials have been crap this season and should be doing high school games... See our game vrs Indiana this last weekend!

Shortly after the 5 second mark is the beginning of contact before anyone went out. Looks like he was bumped and then the arms come out and the DB is boxing Reilly towards the sideline. Sadly the footage isn't clear enough to say exactly what was going on but clearly something was. Slowing down the footage helps get a better look.

The NCAA rule says nothing about a "force out." It simply says "contact." The fact that there was contact is indisputable, there was obvious contact. Therefore the call was made, reviewed, and reviewed again, and determined 3 times to be the correct call.
Exactly. I think this whole "force out" thing got started by the commentators who, as is too often the case when they are in the position to influence the thought of people who have no clue about the rules, are clueless or misinformed about the rules themselves.
There is no "force out" rule, it is simply an exception to the rule that a player loses eligibility by going out of bounds. There is nothing about force or pushing, simply contact by an opponent.

I think it is fairly easy to see. The DB first bumps into WR then sticks his hand into the WR chest while closing him off toward the sideline and then out of bounds. The call was correct. I thought it was correct with the Live camera angle this makes it even more obvious. The real truth is it doesn't matter the game is in the books and its a W. I didn't hear anything about suspensions and the BIG backed up the ruling on the field. GBR!!

You want to talk about a screw job, you should look at the earlier no call on pass interference when the MSU player literally grabbed our WR's arm and and held onto it before the ball arrived until after the ball passed by them. Complete screw job.

Video here although not conclusive certainly shows why the call stood. It appears to me he very well may have been forced out by contact...no way it could have been overturned based on this video. I've seen way worse screw jobs in my life in CFB...and way more. The MSU defender pulling our receiver down by his arm in the end zone was far more "egregious" than this...not even close. Sorry Sparty. You have no case. None.

You mean this one?

Possibly the Reilly catch was even a bit of a make-up call for this one.

But looking at the video above, and the way the NCAA rule is worded it really starts to make more sense. You can see the MSU player bodying him up, and extending his arm. Did he push him out? No, but he did make contact and possibly caused Reilly to go out of bounds. Judgment call by the ref, I could see it going either way.

If the DB hadn't been leaning on Reilly, would he have fallen down like that when Reilly pulled the chair on him? I doubt it.

that was a vicious shove by the MSU DB and it is remarkable that Reilly was even able to stay on his feet, let alone maintain his balance, get both feet in bounds, catch the ball and score

Winking ..kudos to the refs for showing some restraint and not calling a personal foul on the MSU defender

I didn't see a force out.

Look from the 20 yard line on to the 14. And then look what happens when Reilly plants his foot in the ground and cuts back to the inside. The defender continues to float to the outside and falls when there is nothing there to hold the force he was using to push against the defender. And, it doesn't have to be "force", just contact.

+1
This video to me proves he was being driven out. Not only does the defender fall when Riley is no longer there holding him up, but look at the angle Riley has his torso at, he's pushing back against the defender trying to maintain his balance because he's being driven to the sideline.

Nebraska getting that judgement call makes it a screw job? So if we had lost would it have been a screw job because of the no call on a blatant pass interference in the endzone?
