This time in seattle, one of the toughest places to play in all of pro sports

1-4 with our coach, 4-4 without him

Probably meaningless. Different game and all

Well, they used to try and be a QB oriented offense. Which didn’t work because Baker couldn’t get it done. Now they fired Rhule and run the ball and play D. They found a nice niche motion run and Seattle couldn’t stop it at the end of game.

Rhule had one last shot there and failed. Team looks rather rejuvenated.

Maybe they lost faith in him as a coach. I think it’s a lot harder coaching in the NFL.

I hope Matt can get it done at Nebraska

I think getting Darnold healthy and getting rid of Baker helped them quite a bit. I don’t think the change at head coach is as much of a factor as some want to make it. The NFL is a totally different dynamic.

no question coaching in the NFL is much harder

hopefully our guy is goldilocks and the B1G is just right after proving the AAC was not hard enough

no porridge jokes, please

also LOL @ your running and D comments (100% true) post-Rhule, a renowned defensive guru & OL enthusiast

Who hired the 2 guys running the team right now. Asking for a friend.
so we should hope in 3.25 years one of his friends he hired from temple becomes a successful interim coach?

didn't we just do that

You do that by hiring good assistants……😉. And then getting them to recruit their ass off. Whole different situation than coaching grown men signed by a GM in the NFL.
I would like to do it prior to having to fire our coach for being terrible (again)

Apparently he wasn’t in good graces with the majority of the team and most of the remaining staff…

Per many online reports, the process and brand he tried to install was often ridiculed. For example there was a 3 page report that the staff was required to memorize in order to be in his good graces.

This is from the article online,

“The document states that “if you can’t write down” this plan and “the Brand,” the staff member is “not OOU.” That is an acronym commonly used in the building that stands for “One Of Us.” OOU was used regularly in the draft and free-agency process to determine what players Carolina should and should not target. The acronym came to be mocked regularly by some staffers in the last year-plus.”

Once people start shutting down on you, it’s over.

Let’s hope his ideology is better understood by college players.

I think they just lost faith in Rhule. It happens. Doesn’t mean it won’t work here. He just never got a capable QB there among other things

What college team has ever fired Rhule? Seems like he’s a proven commodity as a college coach and using the Panthers beating somebody after he’s gone as evidence otherwise is beyond a stretch.

RollingLaughYet 6 of the 8 hires he’s made so far worked with him at Carolina and in college before that. God you are a fúcking 🤡!

Troll level = Expert. It is an interesting topic to discuss though. I had thought about this earlier today before the Panthers played.
thank you.

nice to know it's still okay to discuss interesting topics on a message board with your friends, so long as you can handle being called "troll" for starting it.

God Bless Elon Musk's America

You’re talking about the 6 guys that got fired liked him.

Some of you people just aren’t ever going to be able to figure it out are ya?

Don’t be scared to learn something in your life!

Oh and before I go, don’t let me forget my clown 🤡… Dipshit!

During the 1-4, lost by 2 to the Browns, lost by 3 to the Giants, beat the Saints by 8, lost to the Cardinals by 10, and lost to the 49ers by 22.

Since firing Rhule, they lost to the Rams by 14, beat Tampa Bay by 21, lost to the Falcons by 3, lost to the Bengals by 21, beat the Falcons by 10, lost to the Ravens by 10, beat the Broncos by 13, and beat the Seahawks by 6.

Under Rhule, average score margin was -5 points (19-24).

Since Rhule, average score margin is 0 (21-21).

They also got rid of McCaffery, Mayfield, and some others.

The bottom line is that Carolina made a management decision after game 5 to get rid of a bunch of salary cap and go young with more draft picks. Rhule didn't agree with this and thus they parted ways. This has nothing to do with his ability as a coach, just a change in philosophy that he didn't agree with.

There is no parallel to draw here. Matt Rhule has proven that he is a really good head coach in a lot of places unlike Callahan, Pelini, Riley, and Frost. He's a SERIOUS upgrade over what we have had over the past 20 years.

I like how you said management wanted to do something different than Rhule wanted to, so they fired him. Then they did the opposite of what he wanted and got better...not a great sign 🤦‍♂️

They really didn't get "better". The ball just rolled in a different direction in a couple of games later in the season and they played some teams that are failing. They could have easily been 4-1 to start the season, that's how razor close it is.

There's no reason to believe that they wouldn't have been 4-4 in these next games if he had stayed.

What are YOU trying to say? That the Carolina experience trumps the 2 rebuilds he did at Temple and Baylor? Are you saying that when a coach in the NFL gets fired, that it's because he's a bad coach (tell that to the KC Chiefs)? This is almost never the case. Every coach in the NFL has well proven themselves somewhere else, either in college or as an NFL assistant before they get the gig (Jeff Saturday excluded, but that's a placeholder). Nick Saban, Bobby Petrino, Urban Meyer, Pete Carroll in his first stint, Steve Spurrier, Dennis Erickson, Lou Holtz, and Chip Kelly all failed in the NFL.

BTW and IMO, Tom Osborne would have failed in the NFL as he wouldn't be able to get NFL level players to commit and play to his system.
