OT: Why is Warren Buffet always ahead of the game?

I took half of my on-hand cash and put into my Vanguard Brokerage account settlement fund (VMFXX). It pays better than CD (currently 4.73%) and has no term commitment. If you pull out in the middle of the month before the dividends are paid at months end you will still get a prorated dividend payment.

Not giving financial advice but it’s something I’m doing to earn something on my “emergency fund”.
Vanguard, Blackrock and State Street own the country and the government, so there are worse places to put your money in.

My bank is giving me about the same rate but I'm locked in at 4mos. I like the option you have better, but man Vanguard screwed me something bad a couple years back.

Buffet is no guru.. there is nothing special about his approach and those that put him on a pedestal don't actually understand how ruthless his companies are run.
Lol. Comments like that make me laugh. I don't put him on a pedestal but I tell my kids to follow his financial advice over anyone else. Unlike other people, like say a guy with the initials DR, he practices what he preaches in regards to finances. And unlike some companies out there he actually owns companies that make money.

You can buy Brk-B and get a very well run company that is diversified without fees. My only gripe is some day he needs to spend some cash or pay a dividend.

Agreed. If it was so easy, everyone would have 100 billion.

Someone who has amassed what they have starting from nothing should be put on a pedestal assuming they are building wealth legally. He gives good advice to novice investors.

Where I have seen people slander him is because he doesn’t spend his own money on initiatives they think he should - which I personally find to be hilarious.

People also fail to acknowledge the sheer amount of wealth he brought to Nebraska. There are lots of people in Nebraska who got in on Berk before it blew up and got trendy.

People hate him because he doesn't fit in a box like they want.

I don't know what this sentence means. You go around acting like you know everything and belittle people with your comments. Thats why I make fun of you. Get over yourself.
First of all, you started insulting me in my Post # 380 in this thread.

This is what you wrote about me: Quote: "LOL theres no source for that except twitter, and places like Freedom Foundation. It's a ridiculous troll to scare you into doing something, like getting involved in buying gold on latenight tv." End quote.

I may go around acting like I know everything cause I know a lot about a lot of stuff. I have a depth of understanding in 2-3 areas that most people on here don't have. It's not that I'm any smarter than some of them, but I don't just paper over things before I make comments, I peel back a lot of layers of the onion before I state something.

When you referred to me as a ridiculous troll, I was well within my rights to call you a dumb fvck, because most of your comments have leaned that way. Other than just say I don't know much, prove what I say is wrong.

I invited you to post some of your knowledge and help educated us. I know that won't happen because you have no real knowledge about economics.

You write 1 -2-3 sentences that have to contain some nonsense at the end, and why would I take you serious? I post LONG responses to legitimate questions, and I'm not afraid to state my opinion(s).

There are guys on here like Streamer 15, TampaBayHusker, huskerfan 66, Sinomatic, RBigredMax, and others who are contributing to the thread, based on knowledge they feel they have and want to extend to the room. There are many ways to win at money, and not one certain way works for everyone.

Even jusker123456, who I dislike and dislikes me, have posted a "Like" on each others comments.
So, we all contribute, even when we don't agree. I generally don't insult someone until they try to belittle me or insult me, then its gonna be on, cause I'm not a "backdown" kind of guy.. Usually, its just easier for me to put them in my Ignore Hopper, where I've had you for a couple years,.

Starting from nothing? Didn't he borrow like a million dollars to start?
Borrowing implies he may not have had a huge nest egg. He wasn’t gifted money to start his business from his pappy (is my understanding).

Most businesses start with some level of debt and likely his was no different.

I feel like someone who puts people on ignore is definitely a backdown type of guy. You can lie to me, but you can't lie to Jesus.

Dude, when you don't bring anything to the party its time for you to be back in my Ignor Hopper.

Your second sentence doesn't even warrant a reply.

You truly are wasting my time.

You would be wise to read and absorb his knowledge instead of being a juvenile smart ass.
OT: here, but...I joined a thread on this site, July 23, 2023 called "Would you eat meat from..." And I introduced the subject of fluoride. In real research, it has been known and proven to lower children's IQ's between 2 and 5 points, which is huge.

In a recent Federal Court Case, Water Watch, Inc. v. EPA, it was proven to be true. With the new Administration coming in, do not be surprised if all the municipalities water supplies are ordered to be de-fluoridated by RFK, Jr.

Since that court case, the FDA. NIH, CDC and HHS have all backtracked on what they have maintained for decades.

Again, I'm not telling anyone what to do, but, with RFK, Jr in charge of Health, and its been proven to harm children, he will make it go away or severly impact those that wish to continue.

I mean, he borrowed it from friends and family if the story is correct.

Look, the dude built an insane fortune, there is no doubt about that.

I question if that number is statistically significant but my kid already has a filter that supposedly filters out fluoride and other chemicals for my grandkids.

The question for me would be how many kids are going to have untreated cavities that turn into abscesses leading to bacterial heart valve infections. There’s a trade off if we remove fluoride. I would be more worried about exposure to cannabis lowering IQs than fluoride. Water filters are cheap if people are really worried about it.

Invested family friends money and took a cut of the profits. Made them a ton of money IIRC and some of them later coverted to Berk shares. Dude was always side hustling. Graduated UNL in 2 years I believe.

I really don't want to go any farther on this topic dingle. I'm just gonna let the ptb do whatever they do..

The problem appears to be from the fact we now have people consuming more fluoride from sources other than drinking water such as soft drinks and water containing foods. Add in fluoride tooth paste to the equation. The result is people are consuming twice the recommended safe level of fluoride. At least I have an idea cause for being stupid now.

Agreed but he probably won't be around to make that decision. Greg Abel and the Board will have to.
