Web building spiders. Big ones who build those spooky in-the-cellar kind of webs. The kind you hate to walk into.
So, on my deck a couple days ago I saw a spider suspended in midair about eye ball high. Nothing but blue sky above, right? Turns out he was in the center of one of those big webs.
Turns out he had strung a base line about 15 feet across nothingness from a patio umbrella to a patio heater. One corner of the deck to another. Built the web off the baseline and anchored it back to the deck railing. How in the world did he string that baseline six feet in the air across all that nothingness? (<--- small question b/c I got a bigger one coming)
Took a broom and swept all that away. Screw the spider.
Today I spot another baseline. Starts at the same umbrella and heads over in the same direction. But this one kinda angles uphill. Angles off the deck. Bypasses the heater, crosses the fence and keeps going up and away to the neighbors backyard tree. I'm saying 40+ feet.
OK, spider people, how the hell did he do that? Someone tell me, plz.
