Hired as RB coach at Colorado. NFL HOFer who last played before most of the players he'll be coaching were born and with no prior coaching experience at any level. Does this hire make any sense given how crappy the Buffs running game has been under Deion?

Believe their starting RB is an ohiost transfer

I’m not a Deion fanboy or anything, but hiring Faulk fits what he’s doing there. If Deion can create a celebrity atmosphere in Boulder and get CU on TV a lot while winning 8 or so games a year, the CU brass will be very happy. I mean, you’re talking about a program that couldn’t give away tickets 3 years ago.

If Faulk can get the RB room better and teach the things he can for the guys to get better, his name and rep will help get better talent there to work with.

Otherwise the assumption I make is he needs money or likes some of the laws of Colorado and wants to fully use them.

They aren’t on the Huskers schedule so don’t otherwise give a damn unless we see them in the post season.

While my original post has some CU/Deion implications, what I'm really wondering is in today's college football world of attracting talent through NIL, do 18-20 year olds really care about playing for a guy who has never coached and whose claim to fame was being a great player back when they were a nothing more than twinkle in their dad's eye. My sons are in their early 20s and I know they have no idea who Marshall Faulk is.

But ESPN and FOX know who Faulk is, and he'll be TV next fall more than any RB coach in the country.

I'm not saying that's a formula for building a great coaching staff, but I'm sure it appeals greatly to Deion.

How much air time did Warren Sapp get? I think Sanders holds all the spotlight for himself. Heck I almost forgot Sapp was coaching there.

Marshall Faulk knows a lot of the tricks of the trade. He was well coached for many years. I think it will come down to his ability to have good relationships with kids, be a father figure type. He's a big name and he won't have to go on the road to recruit. I think it's a good hire.

Certainly a Deion move. The kind of shit he can do in Colorado that wouldn't fly in most places. In this scenario more upside than downside (for Colorado).

I think Faulk was one of the smarter RBs of his generation. HOF. Plus he was on TV as a commentator for years.
