OT - Jim McElwain...

Ouch. That stock plummeted. From head coach to position coach.

did he agree to a contract of $50 per annum to continue to screw Florida or was he an actual professional?

Part of this may be due to age
JM has aspirations of coaching beyond Michigan- integrity is important to him and future employers

A 63 year old mike Riley is on his last stop and no one else would hire him - he could care less- character revealed

His character as a HC was revealed much this season. Mostly when Nebraska was getting spanked, and he was staring blankly on the sidelines, more concerned about stimulating his own prostate than actually coaching.

The Riley obsession is a funny one to watch.
I agree and I am part of it...I might be a bigger part of making fun of the dorks that think he was a good hire but I still love ripping on Riley too. With that said, I wish I was as fortunate as he has been to fall down into so many gigs.

FIFY... I don’t see too many on this board still thinking Riley was a good hire.

i think comparing the financial details of the former Nebraska head coach taking a job elsewhere and almost the same scenario at the University of Florida is relevant and fair game particularly when it has financial ramifications for the university

certainly more relevant than a multi page thread lamenting the fact that Runza's in KC is closing

In most situations there will be some holdouts and very late adopters who just don’t get it or are so attached to their position they just can’t abandon it

Remember there were Japanese soldiers who were still fighting the wwll in Asian jungles into the 50s and 60s

Hopefully cooler heads will prevail here;)

My guess is they will go guerilla mode and take potshots at the program wherever they feel there is a perceived opening
Defending Riley has finally gone past the tipping point of being a reasonable position for anyone

Or they don’t exist anymore, which is my guess.

There are several people up here that can't go 24 hours without thumbing out the word "Riley" on their device.

I thought about bringing the yoga pants thread back to the top with an A+ example that I happened across not long ago, but then I realized that would just be bringing one of the few threads unsullied by Mike Riley bashing right up to the top as prime, unspoiled (yet fertile) real estate right out in the open to smear poo all over.

We have to keep something up here nice, dammit.

The guy took The Gators to 2 conference championship games. Not too shabby.

I think he's a good coach. Never found his QB, or his skill position talent. Defense was stout as hell.

If he can't recruit at Florida, he never will, not with that friggin mug. Kinda Bo like, IMO

free millions of dollars
I’d rather have him blatantly bilk Nebraska out of money by being paid less, somehow, less than I make at my job - than continue to bilk us by being a two-decade plus shit coach, and continuing to further decline Nebraska’s program. Yeah, yeah. Nice guy.

Of all the former coaches we are currently paying, was worth every penny of his severance, simply by getting rid of him.
