You know- I had not thought of this before, but I think you are exactly right. We can sell the absolute hell out of weather events. The lead story the last two nights on the Network news is Milton. This hurricane, and all hurricanes for that matter, have a direct impact on a very small percentage of the viewers. And those that are impacted probably should not be spending their time watching the evening news.
But it is definitely sensational content- and baby, that’s a money maker.
