OT: Harrah’s casino coming to Nebraska

I saw a drawing and everything of it posted somewhere and Gering approved it I think.
A casino in Gering would draw a lot of customers from northern Colorado. There are already casinos in Colorado, but people from the Fort Collins area - where the population has exploded - don't want to hassle with going to Blackhawk or Central City. And anytime there's a proposal to put casinos where the people are, the big existing casinos follow the Council Bluffs model and form ridiculously fake "grassroots" opposition groups to warn everyone about the evils of gambling.

So everyone who works at the meat packing plants will be able to go deposit all their "extra" money in this corporations coffers. Nice.
If they choose. Or they can buy bitcoin, if they choose. Or they can buy hollers and blow if they choose. Aren't choices great.

Whether it be masks or casinos, a significant subset of people only seem to enjoy choices when those choices are agreeable with whatever internal values they hold.

To paraphrase the great George Orwell...

"All choices are equal, but some choices are more equal than others."

The stupid thing is that Nebraska has allowed all of the shittiest forms of gambling (keno, scratch cards, Powerball) for decades, but not table games that actually give the player at least a fighting chance of winning. So Nebraska wasn't really morally or ethically opposed to gambling, just winning.
That's because they get most of the profits from them and Casino's no were near that much.No Casino's then people play there games and they get all the cash!!

I may not know something that you know, but what's wrong with this casino being allowed in Nebraska? If people want to lose their money, they will find a way to do it with or without this casino. I doubt the honesty of this casino more, I have heard a lot about what payment conditions they provide. also, croupiers often work there together with the treasury and deceive customers. I prefer online casinos more. There is no cheating and you can really win money. I usually find casinos or games here https://partnersinfire.com/passion-fire-2/gaming/apps-that-pay-you-to-play-games / and playing with my friends. The main thing is to find an honest casino so that you don't lose money.

A casino in Gering could be a great draw for people in northern Colorado. I live near Fort Collins, and you're spot on about the hassle of getting to Blackhawk or Central City. Having a closer option like Gering would be a game-changer for us. I also find it frustrating when big casinos form fake grassroots opposition to new proposals. It's important to have more options for entertainment. And if anyone's interested in online casinos, there's some good info at https://pafikalsel.org. With the population boom in our area, it seems like there would be plenty of interest.

I'm not a fan out of out of state billionaires and corporations telling Nebraskans what they can and cannot have.

I could see Cheyenne and Wyoming making a move to built a casino to potentially capture the northern Front Range. To the average Coloradan, going to Nebraska is the equivalent of going to Canada, too far away.

Walk the floor of a casino in this area sometime and tell me how many doctor and lawyers you see versus poor and minorities, who can least afford to be there and who's families will suffer the most. So yeah, I meant exactly what I said. If that's offensive to anyone then I'll end with this...I don't care.
Most people with a decent education know to avoid gambling. Yeah occasionally someone wins big but the vast, vast majority lose their money.

Unlike those millions of people who pack the bars every night of the week and walk out cause they don't literally piss their money away.

I am educated and like to have the opportunity to play when I want to. Don't lump everyone into a category.

Yes I know the odds are in the house's favor every time, but if I want to go out and play some poker, craps and blackjack with some buddies that doesn't make me uneducated. It means I don't have a tight wad stuck up my ass

But you can play for fun and loose nothing. Nothing makes you spend a lot of money, you can bet like minimum just to have fun and try your luck.
And it's not about education. I know some people who plays from time to time, with a degree, and if you know the limits, why not
