I never realized the median age of this board was like 75
Lucky you that so many LSD survivors populate this board. That means many of us can tell you what it was like when NU had great football teams which challenged for national championships almost every year and never lost more than three games. Feel free to ask us any questions about those wonderful years and keep your chin up. NU might again challenge for national championships when you’re 75, if you somehow live that long.

90s television was the high point. It died in the 2000s with reality crap.
Not really. It just shifted. Reality/game shows took over the main networks and the good stuff when to premium and a few cable networks. AMC, hbo, showtime and even USA had some great shows from 2000’s to today. In way, it made it even better as they didn’t have to write in a way that conformed to FCC regulations to air on the big networks.

I loved his sarcastic, crass ass.

Can’t disagree with that. Gotta figure Norman Lear was actually mocking Archie.
they absolutely were. There was lots of funny very true stuff but a lot of it was the same schtick of making dads out to be stupid bigoted pigs that we see throughout TV including shows like the Simpsons etc. It's the demonization of fatherhood.

My daughters....both under the age of 25...neither would even know what a message board was or how to use it. Definitely more of a Gen X thing.
the good thing about this message board is that it's kind of limited to a particular audience and you have to purposely log in to it. Other social media not so much. It's one of the reasons I have a more favorable view of our moderators than some people. I don't want this to go down the rabbit hole that Facebook and Instagram do.

I LOVE some of the "reality" shows. I can't get enough of Roadkill and Roadworthy Rescues. I have some friends who have the "Heartland Vets" reality show on Discovery Plus. It's fun to talk to their dad about how that show is put together. It's about as far from "reality" as you can imagine. I have several pretty funny stories about that show that I probably better not share. The "stars" are really good people and good at their jobs but man TV production is an interesting deal. Go find the weirdest sh## that happens to them in a year's time and make an episode out of it. In reality their job is repetitive and mostly pretty damned boring with some an interesting case sprinkled in maybe once a week or two.
