Austin Butler did a great job as Elvis, but the movie was incredibly boring. Felt like a 3 hour montage with little substance.

That wasn't a bad movie. It appears young Elvis was wearing eyeliner and other types of makeup in the Louisiana Hayride days, which I doubt he did.
As far as Col Parker, it can be argued on one hand he was a horrible person who stole from Elvis. On the other hand it can be argued his total devotion to Elvis' career justified 50% of the earnings and if Parker hadn't been so driven and shrewd Elvis might not have gotten much more famous than Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Sleepy LaBeef and nany other of the Sun Records recording artists.

I don't care if they have one or don't have one or what they talk about on the main site, but there are a million places you can talk politics online. A major reason many of us come to boards like this is to avoid that type of stuff. Politics doesn't always have to be talked about in every facet of our lives. If you want to talk politics online, this is a very weird place to do it.

I got the feeling this movie was probably made like Lone Survivor. Let me explain. You have a "A" list star that really wants to be in a movie so it easily gets the funding from big producers to get made. Lone Survivor starred Marky Mark (all 5'6" of him" playing Marcus Latrell who just happened to be 6'4" in real life. Michael Shannon would have been a great choice to play him if all things were equal. He is a great actor and even looks similar to Latrell. Ok, enough of that rant. In the Elvis movie, Tom Hanks was the giant elephant distraction in the movie. ANYONE could have played that part. Anyone. Oddly, Tom Hanks portrayal was very cartoonish and really detracted from the rest of the movie. The story could have made him a sheister and used about four minutes of screen time to convey that. I suspect Tom Hanks pulled a Will Smith move when he wanted Tarantino to rewrite a bunch of Django to make Django more heroic. Jamie Foxx killed it as a result. The movie was probably much better as a result.
