ot: Anyone ever spend much time in a Muslim country?

You don't think "don't stare at their women, don't talk religion or brandish a [Quran], don't walk around alone" would be good advice for a Muslim visiting America? Particularly one wearing stereotypical "Arab" garb?
Nope.

I am taking a three week trip next summer and the last 3 days are in Cairo ? I am pretty excited but also a little nervous. Has anyone ever been there or any Muslim country and if so what is the etiquette during the call to prayers throughout the day? Not really looking forward to the Islamic wake up call every morning
The most important thing I can pass on is after living 18 months in Kuwait is be weary of Ramadan (the dates). If you will be there during that time be fully aware of the restrictions Ramadan involves Not sure of the exact 2017 dates but it is in the summer in 2017

Saudi Arabia has done more for American growth and hegemony than any other country in history, and yet they are viewed somewhat negatively by our populace.

Why exactly should we view the Saudis in a positive manner? Much of the population in many places has a lot of good people but our growth isn't because of the common nice guy in Saudi Arabia. That is a scumbag Wahhabist government there and we do nothing but keep out enemies close by calling them our ally. Our government knows it, our people know it and they know we know it.

My dauther-in-law worked for a firm doing PR for the nation of Egypt and the company would not allow them to travel to Egypt due to security concerns. Not trying to scare you, but it is reality.

I have been to 25 different countries in my life and travelled to Egypt 20+ years ago and loved the pyramids, but even back then it was daunting. The Arab Spring changed Egyptian tourism. I would check with the State Department before going.
