Oregon State couldn't recruit...

Yup, I remember there was a 4* DB that pick Riley / Oregon St over Nebraska.

Ross was his last name I think...
David Ross. Everybody, even his high school coaches were expecting him to pick Nebraska and he surprised everybody by picking Oregon State on signing day. 2007 class.

Dumb post, Riley had some decent recruits and beat out some great teams.

Also, Pelini years were more Midwestern prominent recruiting.
Yeah, Riley landed some good recruits at OSU. And quite a bit lower ranked players that turned out very good. With that said, the recruiting results at Nebraska under him have just been meh so far imo. Hopefully they can get some late flips

Unfortunately Nebraska is still Nebraska. Look at Oregon State. Hour or two from Beach, hour or two from mountains. Things to go do. Look at Nebraska what's there to do. Go drink on O St. Common fellas what would we choose if you were a kid these days. It isn't facilities, tradition or even coaches a lot of times. It's getting to the NFL and having fun for a lot of these guys. And I don't blame them. Until we start putting people in the NFL like Nama or Ohio State, be happy with the guys we get. Hopefully coach them up, find some gems that others over looked and enjoy being able to watch Nebraska on Saturdays

Wait...we were told recruiting to Corvallis was darn near impossible.

Pretty sure you have to wear a wet suit to that beach, water is cold there. I bet Nebraska has more players in the NFL right now than Oregon State.

So the people on here attacking the OP I guess are saying that Riley recruited well while at OSU. So what accounts then for all of those losing seasons? Sure there were a few winning seasons, but mostly mediocre seasons. So if he had such great athletes why did he not do better there? Come on... everyone who supports Riley (and that includes me) has been saying for two years now not to judge his overall record while at OSU because it is so very hard to recruit there. And it is. And the OP is appealing to those oft repeated arguments here.
So yes, Riley occasionally got a good recruit to go to OSU. But overall the recruiting was not great. I generally do not like the OP's posts, but I think those that are attacking his point here are guilty of not being consistent with the arguments they have been making defending Riley over the past two years

OP is trying to insinuate that the claims that Oregon State is difficult to recruit and win at are false, based on one recruit choosing to go there. The fact remains Oregon State is worse than when Riley was there (2-10, 4-8) and their recruiting is basically the same.

I get that. But the OP is also having some cheeky fun throwing the argument back in everyone's face that we have to cut Riley slack because when he was at OSU it was tough to recruit there. I am one of those people he is mocking since I have made that argument and stand by it.

Funny, I don't recall people getting so upset when we lost guys like David Ross, Lyle Moevao and Simi Kuli to Oregon State in the past. People were upset that they didn't choose us-not that they chose Oregon State. Nobody talked about how it meant that we were such a horrible program that nobody wanted to go to. Now when somebody chooses Oregon State over us it's like the end of the world. The truth here is that people who are freaking out over this are just trying to use it as fodder for their reasons not to like Riley. Strange that none of those people wondered why such a horrible recruiter could outrecruit us in the past.

The Kuli one I remember. There were a lot of "who could pick Oregon State over Nebraska" posts

because of the facility's or was it nice guy Riley?

Actually I agree. I started a dumb emotional thread based on a 17 year old. Please delete

Good luck to Calvin at OSU

At least you owned up to it fairly quickly, well done good sir.

Face it... we just lost a good recruit to Oregon Stage and it hurts.
Time to admit it and move on to the next dude

Never count out Dubs and Riley.
