I don't live in Omaha anymore, but I always thought it was a very livable city and not being on amazons short list should bring a sigh of relief to Omaha residents. I just returned from Charlotte where I used to live and a city I loved. That's no longer the case. The same is true with Denver, another city I loved. Both cities have grown far beyond the capacity of their infrastructures. The cost of housing is so high young couples cant afford to buy that starter house so many of us purchased when we were starting out. They either have to live an hour away from work or pay very high rents to live near down town. I could go on about all the other problems associated with rapid growth, but growth fro growth's sake is foolish and not conducive to a healthy, vibrant, livable city. Omaha never gets invited to these hot growth opportunities, but when the markets crash, and they always do, Omaha doesn't get a hangover.
