Olympics

The painting in the Palais de Tokyo in Paris installed for the Olympics of a child with her hands tied behind her back giving oral sex to an adult man is repugnant to me, but I'm an old Boomer so my opinion about art doesn't count because I'm old fashioned and can't really appreciate "modern art". So I guess since I'm "offended" it makes this "art" cool.
I agree with that. To me that painting screams child porn. I guess the French courts bought the argument that it isn't and that it depicts power (large male with small female victims), war crime rape and whatever else. OK fine, but then it's still an obscene painting about rape. And that is art?

I don't get the French. Things like that painting and then depicting something that they had to know closely resembled DiVinci's Last Supper painting in that opening ceremony tableau. It's obviously going to upset people. I always thought the Olympics were about bringing people together.

To be inclusive you have to trash the majority and over-represent the minority. Oh and for the minority it's not a fetish at all. These are their innate feelings and if you don't humor them on broadcast television you're queeephobic and a bigot. This will help show equity.

And for the Olympics, the event that brings elite athletes from around the world, let's get an obese woman to play a main role in the ceremony. What could be more diverse?

Almost like they're following some WEF DEI handbook.

we went to mass last night in brandon, mn. the young priest asked rhetorically, "i wonder why they mock christians at the olympics and not muslims?" he then went on to say, "they must have missed how the story ended."

the mass - for non-catholics here - is symbolic in parts of the last supper. thus many christians believe the olympics' thingy was sacrilegious.

i don't give them that much credit, thinking instead it was typical leftist nonsense, and another reason why i don't watch anything associated with the olympics other than the golf competition.

I like to do my research, and I certainly get why you might be offended by this painting. But... it wasn't installed for the olympics and has nothing to do at all with the olympics. It was installed in 2022 after the artist painted it in response to rapes by Russian soldiers in Ukraine. It was scheduled to be removed in May 2023 and was vandalized shortly before that.

Edit: Seems like the painting might still be there. It definitely has been the subject of a lot of legal fighting.

I’m guessing @Iroh2 wants kids to see more of this. Should definitely get him put on a lifetime list. What a sick POS you have to be to defend child pornography.

That’s exactly why it’s terrible. The gay guy that designed all that (who hired him?) clearly had no other motive than to piss off a BOATLOAD of people. He knew exactly what he was doing. So why do it other than to sow division or cause people to hate trannies even more??

Lately I’ve been thinking that may actually be the desired outcome by this new world DEI BS that is obviously controlled by a small amount of people. Get people to hate LGBTQ way more than before because that’s exactly what they’re doing.

It’s similar to the bud light thing but worse. They are directly targeting a conservative audience to piss off regarding a very sacred thing to them.

Ahhh yes, ti's the season for the hords of Nebraska people feeling the pride of Go Big Red after seeing #GBR thousands of times. And then it all ends.

Is women’s the same as men? As in it’s U23 for the most part, or do countries send their best players?
Strangely enough, it isn't. There are no age restrictions for women's soccer, and there are fewer women's teams allowed. You'd think by now they would make the basic rules the same, but that's not the case.

"How does Olympic soccer work?
There are 16 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams in the Olympic tournaments. The men’s tournament is considered a “youth” event, meaning rosters are made up of Under-23 players, though each team can bring three over-age players. The women’s tournament has no age restrictions."
