NU baseball enters the postseason on a roll

Bull. What even if he managed to homer in all of our hits, they would still be barely tied games. He wouldn't have changed that. 6 hits in 2 games is pathetic. These 2 pitchers were not even on par with middle of the road regional pitchers.
You are one piece of work. Scott would have made a difference. Just look at his last three games. Hitting is contagious.

A difference? Not enough to win. These pitchers were not that great. Choke job. Those are facts, you want to deal in make-believe. That's a you problem.

Our two starters didn't pitch as well as they did last weekend. From what I seen I don't know if SS would have played he could have hit . 1000 to save us from defeat in the tournament....

4 errors contributed big time.

You should try reality, and stop looking for excuses. Like when Andrew White said directly that Europe is not an option, but you were just so damn sure he was going that route.

Well, at least we won't have any tired arms going into a regional. Genius move by Erstad. Heavy, Heavy Sarcasm....

All I can say is...thank you meo and Larry for the Snaglepuss and Big Gay Al posts. They gave me two BIG laughs when I was pretty pissed at our team's performance. If I would have been taking a drink of my Diet Dr. Pepper, it would have burned coming out of my nose.

Minnesota is now crapping the bed we we're sleeping in.Down 3-2 bottom of the eighth.

You win. I said checking, not a fact. And I did not see his quote about overseas, just was wondering. Hey, we stunk. I get it. I just hope that Scott gets a chance in a regional.NO EXCUSES, we stunk.

It's nice to see another team poop the bed, but I'd much rather have Minnesota win than any of the others

Me Too... Only wish Michigan would have won this game back in April that was cancelled, we would have won the league.

To be fair, if we were on top the team might not have played as well down the stretch, much like the tournament when we played 2 teams that we handled. We just expected a win instead of earning it

TDA will chew you up if you don't play solid D and just give away runs like Oprah.
0 conference championships (out of 10) in 5 years in a middling conference? Maddening.
I am surprised BiG TeN has a better RPI than the Big West. They usually are pretty solid.

Gotta think this is near a disaster for the BiG Ten as well. I can't imagine attendance will be that great after being eliminated right away, too depressing. Not to mention all the uncertain weather playing havoc with the scheduling.

meo I am thinking over half this board has no idea what you posted, and the other half went "I REMEMBER THAT"!
Yeah, I know but dating myself, that was my first thought when we exited the tourney as fast as we possibly could.

While were on the topic, what was that dog that would get his dog biscuit, float up in the air about six feet while hugging himself and float back down to the ground?

Ah, found it.

Thanks Hoosker. While we're at, we should take time to celebrate these guys:

Hehehe!! How does Gary have the presence of mind to work his death ray eyes 'whilst' riding Ace into battle? Multi-tasker I guess.

Why do I get the feeling these guys will be featured on Tosh.O at some point?

I love Erstad as HC and hope our fans never run him off.
Honest question: Why do you love Erstad as head coach?

I'm not trying to pile on just because the Huskers washed out of the tournament, I would just like to know what it is about Erstad or his performance as head coach that appeals to you.

Reading the tweets tonight it seems the Huskers are now a long shot to get into a regional .....what a bummer if true

It wasn't rocket science. we got a bit of a bonus by moving up 3 spots during the week before the tournament, but basically.... 2 losses cost us 14 spots as of this minute (i said it would be 12+ when we were at 37 the week before -- we rose as high as 34 before the games started). i thought we had to win probably 3 games to get in so we'd be under 40 which is generally the automatic at-large cutoff. if we're out, nobody to blame but ourselves and i'll be the first to admit it if i was wrong -- i honestly hope i was but as of today we're probably toast.

truth is, the constant rolling over and dying in big games had been fairly consistent for a while before erstad became coach. it's just more noticeable when you've got a real chance to go somewhere. erstad's done some things very right -- just not enough to get us over the hump. this year it was the michigan series and the tournament plus a couple games against terrible teams. last year i could bring out a list.

you fix the games against terrible teams by not scheduling them if possible (you can't get away from northwestern, you can get away from nicholls state and northern colorado). you fix the games against good teams by bringing in competitors to play for you (like the football team is trying to do with kjj and others).

i'm really hoping we get another shot -- i think we'll take advantage. but i'm not counting on anything.

either way -- next year this team should be better. having a pitching staff semi-locked in before the year even starts is a major boost. losing boldt hurts but schreiber should improve (that's scary) among others. we SHOULD be better. i just hope it's good enough i'm tired of missing out like this.

If our name isn't called tomorrow...and we are in a similar position next year Erstad should be sent packing. Probably unrealistic because some folks are fine with him being coach because he could punt and hit a ball far but the fact is he has done diddly squat up to this point.

I read an article from one of the college baseball publications that included our 2 and Q performance that had us as a #3 and playing in the Louisiana regional. I believe the host was Louisiana-Lafayette.

If we don't make it, I'm sending a letter to the baseball office and Eichorst. 5 years of this bs is enough.

Nebraska didn't make d1baseball.com's final projection.

We'll find out for sure in just a couple hours...

Do you have season tickets?

No, but I go to maybe 5-8 games per year.
Hell... with the dollars you already spend, why not? I admit to using ours sparingly (I try to get buts in my seat). Having a boy playing, and coaching limits how many we can get to

I know, I should probably just get 'em. I have a couple friends that have tickets, and when they don't use them, I buy them. It's not an ideal situation. Does your kiddo play a lot of games in the summer?
