I realize I have some Husker bias on this - I just feel that Nash has shown enough that he deserved to earn a spot at the Combine. Any idea how the decision process is put together? Stinks to not allow him that opp to show off his measurables. I know he'll have a shot at proday, but darnet (excuse my language)

I'm glad everyone will be safe. Bears are deadly especially one in a confined area and of a predatory nature.

There's a rule to surviving bear attacks from each type of bear

Black - fight back
Brown - lay down
White - good night

Neyor and Fidone got invites but no Nash? Ok.😂 Polar Bear will still catch on with an NFL team. He's put enough on film and his wrestling background will help. Good luck to all our Huskers trying to make it to the show.
The four invites represent the most NU has received since 2022, when they also had four: DB Cam Taylor-Britt, OL Cameron Jurgens, LB JoJo Domann, and TE Austin Allen.

And while you are trying to remember that, the Grizzly bear does you in.

I liked Nash, thought he was a good-not great- player for us. I think he lacks explosiveness and bend, don't even expect him to get drafted, very very deep DL class this year.

I was told once by a park ranger that if you don't know what kind of bear it is, kick it as hard as you can and quickly climb the nearest tree. If it climbs up the tree to get you, its a black bear. If it tears the tree down to get you, its a grizzly bear.

Nash's game doesn't need a combine to show his skills. His pro day will tell scouts all they need to know. It might actually be better for him to be an UDFA. The thing that Nash brings to the table that some of the other guys who will be drafted is the work ethic. I doubt ANY scout or team doubts the kind of guy Nash is. Some of the guys at his position invited to the combine no doubt have some personal issues that scouts want to delve in to during the interview process.

I am sure Nash was perfectly happy not getting an invite and said "Hey, I don't need that anyway" right? Of course, any player who is on the edge of being draft material or not NEEDS all the exposure they can get, including the combine. Sure, there are pro days and that gets some looks but let's be honest, it isn't like the combine where they are studied like a organic specimen under a microscope. Nash didn't have great stats and here is his evaluation, like it or not. https://nfldraftdiamonds.com/2024/08/nash-hutmacher/

I wish Nash all the best and hope he gets drafted at best and UDFA at the worst but he has a steep hill to climb based on the data that is out there on him. Thus, my opinion that he needs every opportunity to prove what is on paper to be wrong and/or correctible.

He was a big reason why teams struggled converting fourth downs. We’ll miss him.

A few clips from that link….

He’s a very dense, pudgy individual who has an upper half that’s as thick and sturdy as his meaty, yet assless foundation.

Despite being a sufficient space eater due to his stature, his impactive range against the run and the pass is below average. Following his initial burst, sub-par twitch, speed, and COD affect his ability to mirror, redirect, and close to make plays against better athletes outside of arm’s length. His pass-rush toolbox is also below average.

Pudgy, above-average-sized NT/DT who serves as a sufficiently strong and balanced space eater against the run. The ability to make plays against the run and the pass outside of his frame is marginal due to sub-par speed, COD, and twitch following his decent initial get-off.

The combine invites don't make sense if you look at how those players contributed to our success this season, or in Neyor's case the opponent's success. But the DT class is very deep this year. Nash is deserving of being drafted and good enough to make a roster, but there's a ton of guys out there. Nash will be able to test at NU. Maybe NU could coordinate their pro day with Missouri or Colorado to increase the chances that maybe a head coach or GM (decision makers) attends this year.

As for the others- the WR class is not deep this year. Weak class. Neyor looks the part. None of this is based on merit. Fidone- It's a good TE class this year. I think the NFL wants to get their doctors looking at Fidone's knees and watch him run. They figure Fidone wasn't utilized the right way-- who could argue after watching those sideline one yard out passes to Fidone. As for Hill, he has long arms and they want to see how fast he runs on the same track as everyone else.
