Don't know for sure if this is good or bad. It seems the demands of The Big Ten Network have consumed whatever time the coaches had away from strictly coaching.

I'd like to offer my two cents here and take it for what it is worth. This is a good thing for you guys. College athletics is a thing that is widely seen amongst the entire nation. You have national media, local journalists, info leakers, etc, all over every major Div-1 campus across the US.
You've had very public representations, of what happens when you let in-house happenings get to the public eye. The first being the media leak of Bo Pelini's statements about the fans booing during the OSU game in 2011. Someone recorded his statement, during a very emotional game, which was won by the Huskers, and leaked it to the media. This is unheard of for the majority of other programs.
You just don't do it. It doesn't lead to anything good. It's not like he is the first coach to say something like that. He's just one of the only ones to actually have what he said leaked by someone. It made something that REALLY at heart was not a big deal. It's not a big deal, because again, it's something that happens behind the closed doors of EVERY program. That's just being honest on my part.
Then you had the leak from the meeting he had with the players. Again, just something you don't do. It doesn't do anything but create division amongs fans, players, coaches, and makes all involved look bad in some way. If players see this, they turn on the fans and media, if a fan see's this they turn on the coach, which creates a sort of tension that shows at game days. Then you see others get involved, including former players, media members, other fans from other teams making fun, etc. Putting the laundry out to the public is NEVER a good idea. It's intrusive to be quite honest. We as fans are not there to explain EVERY little thing about what happens behind closed doors. Believe me, I've shared information before, but not before I at least knew for a fact, that others already knew.
I hate to say this, but when Pelini said 'that's the problem with that place', he was right. Please don't take this a swipe from me. It's not, it's just something I believe is very true. I personally think this change will do your school and program good. Riley is a good coach, and he knows how to deal with these things. You're in good hands. It's better IMO, to simply watch the game and enjoy it. Rather then trying to learn every little bit of inner working that you can. It gets too personal, and once that happens, it becomes a bad situation. The Pelini situation got WAY too personal. Be glad that Riley, is trying to stay transparent, but at the same time, also trying to keep some things between him, the team and the program.
Good luck this year. It's time we step up, because the other side of the division as whole, is formidable.
Ah, I see, I was under the impression it was someone who was also there and had recorded what he said before the actual interview? So an actual media member released it? That's interesting.Originally posted by mwulf:

He actually did that? Well that explains a little more. Not the first time that's happened in college sports though. My question though, is why not just fire him for his lack of success? Or his on field antics? Why push the laundry into the spotlight?Originally posted by ssmith84:
Well, Bo kinda crossed that line when he started shaking down message board owners in hotel basements. The dude is an ass clown and while the leaks are never a good thing, at least everyone got to see how big of an asshat he is

It was recorded by a player? Do you know which one?Originally posted by 4.6.3:
You have no idea what you are talking about. Bo was in the freaking media room getting mic'd up to do the coaches show in the first case. The second one was recorded by a player. It would happen in other places, if their coaches were as dumb as Blo. Now go back to your hole.

A fine day. My first ever visit to the Big House. We pretty much dominated that game until the 4th. Tate Forcier replaces Dennard Robinson, and brings them back for a chance to win. Michigan fans all around me went from quiet, to talking smack like they were just about to win the NC. Once very nice and humble fans, became loud, obnoxious, and angry in a happy sort of way.Originally posted by mwulf:

You'll like this, the link I provided is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. This was just posted on the Hawkeye site. LOL, and the incident mentioned just happened today, and it also just happened to MY school.Originally posted by ssmith84:
You'd have to ask the person who sent the tape to deadspin or the player (it doesn't matter which one) who sent the 2nd tape out.
He was fired for lack of performance, so there's that.

Should be interesting to say the least. I just got a text, and the entire team is now aware of this.Originally posted by HuskerTimOmaha:

The media access in particular the electronic media has just gotten so large that I don't see the point in the BRB. For some of us that aren't in Lincoln, it leaves us out. There have been multiple problems at BRBreakfasts that started way back during Frank's tenure. It makes no sense to subject the coaches to a public Q&A with a fan that might have an agenda. The media demands during the season have escalated and the BRB adds nothing for the average fan. Less that 48 hours before a game, I want our coaches completely focused on the game not what they are going to say to the BRB.Originally posted by Nebraska Fan:
