NIT

Hate to say it, but I have stopped watching them. Their inconsistency drives me too crazy. I hope they do well and eek out a Big Dance berth. It will be without me watching, though.

I have no idea if the Huskers will make the NCAA tournament or not—it’s dicey. If we don’t then I think NIT would be fine. Fred has done a very respectable job given the talent level on his squad and why not keep playing?

Fred isn’t exactly in his first year of coaching. This is his team and the talent, or lack-thereof, is a direct result of him. Being complacent with an NIT bid should never be the goal of any single P4 program, no matter how pathetic their basketball resume is.

For those calling on Williams to take the last shot, he scored 8 points on 2 of 8 shooting in the 2nd half, he clearly lost the confidence in his shot that he had in the first half when he was 4 of 6 from 3 and had 18 points.

In this game, 2-of-8 still makes him a shining star.

I thought Williams had a step on Donaldson and could have take the ball down the right side of the lane. At that point he would have had to either get a shot up over Wolf - no easy task - or draw Wolf out to the short corner. That could have opened up a shot for someone else filling the lane. Down by only one point, I like either of those options better than kicking the ball out for a three, given the Huskers' atrocious perimeter shooting up to that point.

I'm not going dog Williams for giving up the ball, because it led to a decent shot. But in that situation, with the defense on its heels, I would rather get the ball into the paint.

They drive me batty too with their erratic play and inconsistency. Bad shooters, Gary erratic at the rim. Lack of offensive movement to where I’m wondering do they run an offense. But I still watch. What else am I going to do? Too early to do my gardening.
