Next season: Purdy??

Purdy looked like our best QB to me last night. Stronger arm than I was expecting, fleet of foot, not afraid of contact. If we only had one QB return for next season i'd want it to be him...Having said that I really hope DK is a baller and ready to do battle from day one and or we get a transfer from that gawd awful portal. That I hate.

Omg look at you. Just coming around to take your victory lap at the expense of Huskernation.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hope you made some good $$$

Chubby is going to have to have surgery after the season. How long will he be out? Is a full recovery certain?

This feels a lot like the Thompson scenario from last off-season.

I think we keep HH and Chubba and tell Sims to take a hike. With Kaelin coming in, that still leaves us needing at least one QB from the portal, probably two.
You’re not getting two good portal QBs to come here with Purdy, HH and Haarberg returning (and Kaelin). Will be lucky to get one who is better than any of those guys.

He ran out of bounds on 3rd down short of the sticks in the 4th Q

Keep Purdy and HH. Kaelin arrives. Bring in 2 portal QBs. Let the best player play.

I don’t think Sims can be fixed, but he will probably be in the mix. And we will probably bring in only 1 portal QB.
I agree with this

I would be very surprised if DK contributes anything until 2026. He hasn’t looked impressive since his Elite-11 camp, and that’s against Nebraska HS opposition and his team has better talent. I think he’s going to be a bit of a project, and take time to develop.

We really need better QB play for 2024 and 2025 than we had in 2023. Of the guys already here, Purdy seems to be best hope to pull it all together. But, I would really like to add another valid option or two. We need it, it’s not really an option.

Very concerned about DK's lack of production with several other D1 players on his roster...no doubt.

I'm going to extend Purdy the same geace I extended HH when he was struggling. I think Purdy did OK last nighr and was our best player on offense.
He had a burst for sure on that TD run. Not bad for a guy with a groin injury. Didn't turn it over 3 to 5 times. Looked solid enough to be the starter on black Friday.

Ask yourself this Mr. Winners win. Would the performance by Purdy last night have been good enough to win the games that Sims and HH singlehandedly lost? Minnesota, MD and MSU? Those are all 3 wins without the terrible turnover two at QB.
I know you're a good dude, but just ignore Kong.

He had his chance against MD and blew it (not his fault)

17 points doesn’t beat msu, they scored 20

Maybe it would’ve been enough to beat minn in week 1

Welp, IDK what to say! You're pretty awesome with the updates, so I'm sure it makes it pretty hard to hate on ya 🤣
Thanks. Look. I'm frustrated as well. But I do see real progress in this team and coaching staff. Trust the process. The idea of firing A.D. Trev and every other coach in year 1 of a complete rebuild of the Frost shitshow is fvcking delusional.

I would like to see a bulleted list of where we’ve progressed with stats or some sort of objective measure behind it.

TIA

Our Run game and Defense for starters. The turnovers are still terrible and need fixed.
It’s really too bad our OC/HC have no clue how to lean on the power run game unless HH is the quarterback.

It’s our identity and it works. All 5 wins are a direct result of it.

Maybe terrible QB play in the pass game is the key that unlocks the actual potential of our playcaller and offense?

Hey man. Idk who is advertising that, but I'm all Jets go on Gameday!!!

Just read through some of the posts. I'm sure most are loser trolls but you don't start firing coaches in year one of a rebuild. You don't fire Trev because you don't like the new stadium rebuild. Absolute insanity.

Minnesota: Sims 3 INT (Purdy wins this game 100%)
Colorado: Sims 1 INT, 2 fumbles (we still probably lose)
Michigan St: Haarberg 0 TD, 2 INT, 1 fumble (Purdy wins this game)
Maryland: Sims/Haarberg 3 INT, 1 fumble (Purdy wins this game)

Not that Purdy is all world, but I think he showed enough that if he was the starter from the jump we are sitting at 7-4 right now IMO.

Wisconsin has the 25th scoring defense and Purdy threw 70% 1 TD 1 INT (OT heave on 4th and long). Ran for 105 yards and a TD. No chance in hell Sims or HH play as well as he did.

Drove us down and we got stopped on 4th down, Drove us down again before the half and we miss a FG. Drove us down end of regulation and Rhule loses his nuts and plays it too safe. Not sure what people wanted more out of Purdy in his first actual game of the season.

Iowa has a tough as nails defense so it will be hard for points again. He would have put up good numbers on Colorado, Maryland and Michigan St if he had a full game.

Nothing like projecting a guy who’s never won a game in college in hindsight.

This is what losing does to people.

If if if, maybe maybe maybe

Purdy cost us the game against Maryland by throwing an interception on that drive.

You're a pathetic hater lately with little insight and dodged the reasoning.
If purdy was going to win the maryland game, he would’ve won the maryland game

What you posted isn’t “reasoning”, it’s daydreaming

Sorry for a lack of insight into your fantasies

I don’t blame purdy for either of our last 2 losses. He is not a player we can or should expect to make game winning plays.

I blame the coaching staff entirely.

We had 4 turnovers before he even entered the game. We would have been winning not relying on Purdy coming off the sidelines for the first time all year asking him to lead a 90+ yard drive.

Clueless fanbase sometimes it's funny.
Last night (a huge outlier) is now purdy’s baseline performance in your mind?

Hope you’re right & not clueless.

I'm not even claiming he is a great QB, but people on this board who think that Haarberg and Sims are better are literally more clueless than Satt thinking Sims was a homerun portal pick up.

The best game of his life wasn’t enough last night (not his fault)

Hopefully he has more in the tank on Friday

Did you ever watch any of his games last season?

I remember some spectacularly bad play from Purdy last season. He had that dear-in-the-headlights vibe to him.

But young players can get better with time. He was a lot more poised yesterday. He proved that he can scramble effectively, play option a little bit, and has enough speed to take it to the house. He also proved that he has enough arm strength and accuracy thar opposing DCs will have to defend it and not sell out against the run.

Purdy may not be the answer. Can he be consistent? Can he stay healthy? Can he be clutch? All very much in question.
