Next coach

Hearing done deal. 20 M 5 yrs. Ya gotta love those malts at Wendy's. Winking
I wouldn't take that deal. I would demand five years and if I was released after a season with 7 wins, I would still receive that balance due on my contact plus one additional year salry. That way it takes the hang the coach cry out of the equation.

Next coach should be gaurunteed at least 7 years imo. And not a 7 year contract. 7 years no hot seat. People may not like to hear it, but this is quite the rebuilding job right now. We have severe talent deficits and no development due to discontinuity in coaching. The only thing that will get us going again is stability in the coaching Staff.

4m a year lol....Florida farts that kind of money. It will take a lot more than that to lure a top flight coach here...

Iowa State's coach says hello.

Besides you, it's embarrassing. You're actually fun to post with. The rest...not so much. I'll leave this board now. You guys have enough to sort amongst yourselves.
I have noticed you breaking out the curse words, you seem a bit more agitated this evening :D

We already have talent to at least challenge for the West. The right coach will implement a system that will be easily transitioned to. The tough part will be changing their mentality. Next year will be rough simply because of that challenging schedule.

Disagree. We are so overmatched in the trenches that we will struggle with Wisconsin and Iowa in the West and our schedule vs the east puts us at a huge disadvantage next year as well

Not every situation is the same. If you expect Nebraska to pull off wins against top 10 teams in the next year or two, you’ll be disappointed
Yet Iowa State, with no better overall talent than Nebraska, did just that in year number two under Campbell. Did you expect the Cyclones to pull the upset of OU this year? Didn’t think so. A good coach and staff will have Nebraska in line to pull an upset in year two. May not happen, then again, it might.

It was done last week when a rep for frost called [___], a local realtor in Lincoln looking for a home

I think most would be just happy for a well coached team that plays hard. This we have no talent thing is the last attempt to justify why Riley failed.

No we are not a team stocked with talent but really they are so poorly coached we have no idea what our talent level is. According to posters on here the Riley classes should have improved it

Florida has some of the worst facilities in the SEC, and has refused to upgrade them, but still expect to win championships. They had the best coach in college football, but because of the ineptitude of the administration urban quit, just to come back a few years later in a place that will actually spend money. They are just starting their 100 million dollar renovations, but don't have all the money, those types of facility upgrades we did a decade ago. You have to remember that their program was trash until the late 80s, so they don't have a ton of alumni money, and booster money is not generational. The conflict between Mcelwain and the Admin was due to him immediately asking for better facilities when Meyer, and Spurrier won without. They saw him as using excuses...and of course he wanted out. And is now the 2nd coach to leave florida by choice in the last decade. I don't know where this myth about Florida wealth comes from...

The Davis twins, Deontre, and the nose tackle redshirting all have talent. They are just absolutely poorly coached. DE/outside linebacker talent needs to be upgraded. I would agree with you to some extent on the OL, but they are led by the worst OL coach in Nebraska football history and have no accountability in off season strength and conditioning. Remember this whole team has been pussified by this staff so one can only hope this will be rectified within a few years. Overall I still believe we're on par with Iowa, maybe slightly below Wisconsin talent wise.

Don't forget that we need linebackers! We haven't had a good linebacker since Lavonte David. None of them can fight off a block. None of them seem to know gap responsibilities. All over pursue plays leaving counters and reverses wide open. It's a shit show!

I used to believe that - I don't anymore after watching the last several games. For example: Have you seen the arms on our OL? They look like a punter's arms compared to Wisc. or Iowa's! Our strength and conditioning is one of the weakest in the country at any level. Look how NIU pushed us around. There is nothing about this squad that is talented or committed to winning football.

Why is that? Mark Philipp came from Corvallis, so that explains that. But thought we'd see "some" improvement with the return of Epley.

Would like to see some of the new staff take a trip to Alabama and see what the off season workouts are like for their players. Whatever gets these players to have an edge about them is needed, much like what transpired in Lincoln after the loss to FSU in the 1994 Orange Bowl. 1:16 is what they stared at all summer long while working out like muthas, and if they can get that kind of attitude and drive somehow, that’s a start.

Right on. Or maybe even Minnesota for NIU for that matter.

Correct! The tremendous recruiting prowess of Riley and company should have bolstered the talent on the team. We have some talent just not a staff that can coach and develop them.

I hope this is the case, but there are so many rumors, a guy doesn't know what to believe.

I completely agree. Though I trust this as fact as it's related to some personal business things. That information alone doesn't make it "a signed deal has been made!!1" but it makes it pretty hard to continue to look the other way at this point.
