The Go Big Project will provide Nebraska with a state-of-the-art $165 million facility that’s going to be a game changer for the Husker football team, as well as other programs.
The facility is scheduled to be completed this summer, but its construction will mean one of the football team’s game-day traditions will be slightly tweaked.
During his monthly appearance on Huskers Radio Network Thursday night, Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts said Saturday’s Red-White spring game will likely be the final time the football team walks through the gates at the northwest corner of Memorial Stadium for the Tunnel Walk. Once the season comes around, the northeast corner will be where the Tunnel Walk is held going forward.
“In essence, that’ll likely be the last time we come out of that northwest side," Alberts said. "And when the Go Big Project comes online, the new Tunnel Walk will actually come through the northeast side. So, if you’re really nostalgic and you want to be at a game where it’s the last time that the Huskers came out of the northwest corner, that’ll be the spring game likely for our team.”
