We can all pray there is action to Make NU Football Great again.
Nebraska's special teams problem is bigger than one person. A new coach in charge would be great. Different long snapper- sounds good. But to be THIS bad, it's a systemic issue. Rhule has to change how he practices special teams, how often, what part of practice, how much time is taken, going live... everything has to be looked at.We can all pray there is action to Make NU Football Great again.
I got alot problems with you people, now, you're gonna hear about.Happy Foley-vus.
It’s the day where we air all our Foley grievances. I’ll start…
Our ability to fair-catch inside our own 5 yard line.

Disagree (I think). Good ST coordinator will fix it if Rhule lets him (not sure what involvement he had before). Of course that possibly means changing processes in practice, but as the CEO, you lean very heavily (or should) on your coordinators, so I put it 95% on the coordinator. The coordinator needs to be requesting from the HC the when, where, how much, and HC needs to make it happen, if not completely unreasonable.Nebraska's special teams problem is bigger than one person. Agree, but the ST Coordinator is paid a pretty penny to make sure development is happening. The fact of the matter is no one should be getting 500K for having the worst group in D1.Nebraska's special teams problem is bigger than one person. A new coach in charge would be great. I think we're on the same page here. You could bring in anybody you wish but the commitment and importance has to be there. The special teams play is so bad across the board that I can't blame it all on a bad coordinator. And I'm a Rhule supporter. No more blocked kicks. No more bad snaps. Start actually blocking on punt returns and getting 10 yards a return. We need one or two kick return TDs a year.Disagree (I think). Very true. And there's some weird shit going on there too. For instance, what was the deal with Garcia-Castaneda? All he did was fair catch. He hardly played any WR after being one of our best targets two years prior. Was he hurt or not able to go full speed?Agree, but the ST Coordinator is paid a pretty penny to make sure development is happening. I like the first part of what you are saying.. Rhule has already been exposed as basically running a clown show, but can you get him to fix special teams? I doubt it. It's like that old business matrix, where you can only have a combination of 2 of the 3 things that you want at any one time.We have learned a lot of unpleasant lessons about NU’s parade of unsuccessful head coaches post-Frank and one of them is their stubborn refusal to ditch close buddies who aren’t cutting it. Will Ruhle be the exception? I would guess the answer is no especially since the old limit on numbers of coaches no longer exists. Foley seems to be Ruhle’s closest buddy and is at an age where other opportunities are probably limited.
I think the best outcome we can hope for is another warm body in the Special Teams coaching room but not a firing or resignation.
Sure the CEO should be leaning on the coordinator to do the job. But the CEO also sees the product on the field, and should have seen that a change needed to be made sooner.Disagree (I think). This is New Year's Eve. My gut says no announcement until the new year...

As I said, I think Foley is his closest coaching buddy who has been with him at all four head coaching gigs. And did he fire the other two guys? McGuire is a kid who had daddy as an option. Satterfield has had a lot of other jobs including recent OC job at South Carolina. He may or may not leave, but unlike Foley I would think he could pretty easily get another coordinator job.I would say he is already the exception replacing Satt with Dana and McGuire with Shorts. After that what would make you question if he will replace unproductive coaches?

Yep and I think that’s what he was saying when he make the comment Total overhaul on special teams. That’s not just replacing the coach in charge.Nebraska's special teams problem is bigger than one person. A new coach in charge would be great. Different long snapper- sounds good. If Callahan had been hired last year instead of post-Frank, the “standards for keeping the job” would obviously have been much different. Callahan was expected to improve on Frank’s 58-19 record and come close to TO’s unbelievable record. Even if he had ditched Cosgrove that was a tough order. Kind of like the string of successors to John Wooden at UCLA who couldn’t come close to Wooden’s 10 NCAA championships in 12 years. On the buddy hires . . . . B. Callahan would've been back in the NFL by now, but could've stayed on at NU a couple more years had he ditched Cosgrove midseason. The more time passes, the more I think Callahan's firing took some thought. Overall, the 2007 season was trash, but they blew the doors off KState (Josh Freeman) at home, which was glorious, and played really well against Texas in Austin at the end of the season.
Not sure what the disagreement is. I said I thought the best we can hope for is an addition to the coaching staff and it sounds like you agree with that. Foley seems to be the in-state recruiter and may be good at that.He replaced them both, which is what we want to happen with Foley. I don’t care if Foley is still around doing whatever, I just want a new ST Coach.
Since we got a Seinfeld reference already, I’ll stay with it. If Rhule wants to go costanza with Foley and make him the assistant to the traveling secretary, I couldn’t care less, but he won’t be in a (real) decision-making position. Not after this year, and certainly not after Rhule promised a complete overhaul. Even if he actually thought it was best, he has to know the blowback would be tremendous. We have learned a lot of unpleasant lessons about NU’s parade of unsuccessful head coaches post-Frank and one of them is their stubborn refusal to ditch close buddies who aren’t cutting it. 🙄Jeezus, hope you have better posts in 2025.I like the first part of what you are saying.. Rhule has already been exposed as basically running a clown show, but can you get him to fix special teams? We’re paying 600K for that??Don’t forget Josh Martin makes $100k as Assistant Special Teams coach.

It wasn’t heading out of bounds. Watch it again in slow motion. IF he let it go, it’s most likely a touchback. The bowl game started with fielding a KO that was headed out of bounds. I think it was Jr who returned it to the 28, so not a huge deal, but more lost hidden yards there. Over a season seven yards here 15 yards there add up.
