New commit

Sneaky good balance on him, but that film also looks like he's playing against a bunch of HS underclassmen or something. Interested to see how he progresses with some more playing time.

Are you talking about Fant as the tight end Riley didn’t want?

News to me...
i was thinking we were recruiting him on the defensive side of the ball.... obviously a mistake by the way he is playing on the offensive side.

I don't think his success as a TE proves that he wouldn't have also been a successful DE. If Ameer had chosen to go to Auburn and play DB, he may well have been a great DB as well.

Pretty sure Pelini offered him on the defensive side; Riley switched it to TE, but the damage was done.

I’m curious why we took this kid so early.
His ESPN Sparq testing results were not that impressive. He’a Definitely not 5’11”-6’0” 190lbs like the recruiting sites state. Look at him next to Scott Frost who is 6’3”. He’s more like 5’10” 175. He’s built a lot like mike williams our receiver.
The official ESPN testing results were 4.6 40.
And his SPARQ score was middle of the pack.
I just question why take a little guy this early when he’s a 2 star/low 3 star, we have 3 RB’s added this year and there are so many better ones out there available.

And his 100m time is 10.98 not 10.7

The kid's PR is 10.82, ran in the ninth grade. The kid claims to have run 10.74 this year. WV is a small state, but the 10.82 is faster than all but two WV kids in the past five years. One of those kids is on the track team at Va Tech.
The kid is fast. Frost and Co. will be recruiting more like him.

I looked up National times and the top 50 100m times were all under 10.5. Anthony Schwartz (WR we tried to get last year) runs like a 10.15 and is #3 in the nation. Yes 10.84 is very fast and ranks in the top 5 for states with lower populations but if you look at the cream of the crop and the types of athletes top 10 fb schools are getting, they are much faster.
If we truly want to compete with Bama, Auburn, Florida, Ohio State, USC, Oregon, etc
In terms of athletes and speed 10.84 isn’t there. That’s all I’m saying.
Miles Jones runs like a 10.4 that’s where we need to be.

For comparison, Grayson's 10.82 from his freshman year in HS would be a top 25 time in the Big 12 and a top 30 time in the B1G. He would be the third fastest 100M guy on NU's track team.

Pretty psyched about Miles Jones, but Grayson's speed is also an upgrade.
