Nebraska vs Purdue ( and the officials) 2nd half thread!

I agree the offense isn't good, but you take the turnovers out and it's effective. Love the emphasis on running. And hey, you gotta give a little tip of the cap considering just how many guys are injured.
15 play drive

73 yard TD pass

haven't seen those two things in the same game in quite some time

So why do we keep trotting that talentless fumble machine Grant back out on the field at all? Fleeks and Johnson are both better than Grant. Grant deserves to ride pine for the rest of the season.
That poor kid, probably can't spell cat .

I am talking about who can be the backup qb in the current situation.
I don’t know if he would be serviceable or not as the backup but the one guy we haven’t seen THIS YEAR is Purdy. Forget Woche. He didn’t even play for his high school team.

Wasn’t Grant our leading rusher last year? Fumbles on the brain this year for some reason.

Rhule explained it in the postgame. Said they had a good play but kids ran it to wrong side.
Not buying it. You don't put in your turnover prone backup QB who has not played a down in six weeks and run a fourth and one at midfield with six minutes left leading by 24-6. That just makes zero sense to me. I don't care if they ran it the wrong way. Who ran it the wrong way? The whole line? The whole team? Just Sims? Who cares. You punt the ball in that situation considering how great your defense has been playing. You pin them deep and make them work for it with just six minutes left. Brain dead call.

Yes he was our leading rusher but he also regressed as the season wore on. He began his bad habit of running laterally and tap dancing around looking for a hole until getting tackled for two yard losses. And this year he has added fumbling to his resume. He is a good solid running back if he has a decent hole to run through. But that describes most mediocre backs. He should not be playing.

Fact is we do not have a QB that would start on any other big10 team and very few in other leagues
once in a while before the season we’ve had some posters who have been very knowledgeable in the past, come on here and tell us this is the weakest QB room we’ve had at Nebraska they can ever remember.

I think Sims is a broken player. I think Haarberg is a work in progress. He made some great plays today and a few mistakes. He can get better. We have no idea if Purdy could play better than Sims because we haven’t seen him this year. I’m just so sick of the turnovers.

For me, that's a feel call. IF we'd been moving the ball reliably on the ground, then sure. But our Oline while playing well for the circumstances was not dominant by any stretch. I didn't think we were going to convert when we lined up with that in kind, and I definitely wasn't wrong. Add in the way our D was playing, and punting just made more sense.

Obviously he had more faith in Sims than we do. Hindsight is 20/20. I really don’t think Rhule thought the game was in question and wanted to get a first down to run clock. My comment is if you can’t pick up A yard when you want to maybe you don’t deserve to win. Punt the ball and maybe it goes in the endzone and you bet a whopping 25 yards. I would have punted BUT Rhule says “I want my team to play”. Foot on the gas. If we die we die.

Fleeks is tiny for a RB and threw a punch that ended a drive for us. Our starter played a lot of snaps. I have no issue with Grant playing. He almost has to unless you’re gonna run out walkons….which maybe they should.

It's called coaching. We we're up and defense was in control. Since when should we not be able to get one yard against a team like Purdue. this team needs to be built and that was another brick i think.
Yeah I still would have punted but nobody’s gonna pay me 8 million to coach football.
