Leadoff single. Sac bunt advances the runner. Attempted steal gets the runner out at 3rd, 2 outs. Next batter singles. K ends the top half.
 
Bottom 1st

Boldt with a leadoff infield single but is picked off leaning towards 2nd. Placzek with a full count single past SS. Miller with a single off the RF wall! Placzek heads to 3rd. Schreiber K's. Wilkening K's to end the inning.
 
Top 2nd

Solo shot to leadoff the inning for K State. Next batter K's. Fly out to CF. line out to LF to end the top half.
 
Top 4th

Leadoff single followed by another single, couple dribblers between 1st and 2nd was all. Attempted sac bunt but Meyers is able to get the lead runner at 3rd. Eddins now in to relieve Meyers. RBI single for KSU, runner on 1st and 2nd. Ground out to pitcher but the runners advance to 2nd and 3rd on the play. Ground out to pitcher to end the threat.
 
Bottom 4th

One out single for Wilkening. Dilday grounds into a inning ending double play.
 
Bottom 5th

Klemke with a leadoff double down the LF line! KSU makes a call to the bullpen. Schlepp flies out to CF. Rev grounds out to 2nd, Klemke advances to 3rd on the play. Boldt flies out to RF.
 
Top 6th

Leadoff single followed by a walk. Reece K's the next batter. What should have been a double play ball hit back to the mound instead became an E1 out to CF which scores one run and puts two moe on the corners. Bunt out to pitcher, runners stay. K ends the threat!
 
Bottom 6th

Leadoff walk for Placzek. Miller pops out. Schreiber walks. Relief pitcher for KSU. Wilkening with an RBI single past 3rd!!! Dilday K's. Klemke K's to end the inning.
 
Top 7th

Mike Waldron now in to pitch and k's the 1st batter. Next guy walks on four pitches. Ground out to 2nd but the runner was off with the pitch and is safely in at 2nd. RBI single past SS. Palkert now in to pitch. Fly out to CF to end the threat.
 
Bottom 7th

Schlepp safe on an E2 by the catcher. Rev grounds into a double play. Boldt flies out to LF.
 
Bottom 8th

Leadoff HBP for Placzek. Miller with a single to RF and Placzek goes 1st to 3rd. Wild pitch brings in a run and advances Miller to 2nd!!! Schreiber walks. Pitching change for KSU. Wilkening singles to RF to load the bases! Alvarado in the pinch hit. Alvarado hits it hard up the middle but the pitcher stops it and gets the force out at home, bases still loaded one out. Klemke K's. Fish now in to pinch hit for Schlepp. Fish grounds out. That one hurts.
 
Top 9th

One out single to CF. Knutson now in to pitch. WP advances the runners and then he K's the next batter. Ground out to SS to end the threat.
 
Not good at all. I know strange things happen in the midweek, but when you are playing in a weak conference, you cannot afford to drop games like this. This is a bad team-no excuse at all losing to them, especially at home. Really must win tomorrow now.

Meh it happens. KSU has put together some decent games this year and while we should have beat them, the only thing we can do now is go on a 4 game heater
 
We just don't have a quality midweek starter this year that we can expect to throw a solid 5-6 innings for us. Really need to get the next four...our RPI is trending in the wrong directon. Unless we go on another winning streak it's going to be tough for this team to remain in the at-large discussion IMO.
 
I still feel our best chance is winning the Big Ten Tourney. This team is a good team but not a great team. Unfortunately with how we started and the lackluster schedule going forward we will have to be great to get an at large I feel. We will see. A lot of baseball left and the RPI will change a lot between here and now for most teams.
