Nebraska volleyball remains the only women's sport to turn a profit, showing 1.3 million in fiscal year 2024

Not a big surprise but a continuing achievement for the volleyball program.

Very remarkable. You would think there's a couple or 3 other programs who could also get their VB program into the black. Wisconsin? Texas? Penn St? Maybe Louisville?

Overall, the NU athletic department finished the fiscal year with a net profit of $6.7 million.

somewhat aligned, N's department performance is quite a contrast to missouri's.

Any Chance Volleyball gets big enough to move games to Pinnacle or increase capacity at the Bob?
The BOB is maxed out capacity wise I believe. Cook wants a true home court advantage. They probably will play a match at PBA but don’t think Cook wants a permanent move.

Surprised that South Carolina basketball isn’t on the list. In the end, what this list says to me, is the only women’s teams/sports that can generate profit are perennial super powers/winners. Having a couple good seasons or a star player (iowa/Clark) is fools gold, you have to dominate your sport for multiple seasons to earn a profit. If iowa doesn’t carry on their success in women’s basketball (and/or have another generational player, unlikely) they won’t be on this list very long.

Only if cook wants it. More likely to build their own facility. Cook wasn't real fond of leaving the pavilion. He helped design the Devaney remodel

There needs to be an asterisk on that net profit. What's not included is the $that the athletic department paid back to academic side for scholarships and they also retired 100 million of debt
