Yep - the committee has the big ten champion as roughly the 32nd ranked team (the weakest 2 seed) in the nation
The committee has no faith in Maryland... Indiana in a 12 seed regional (UK) and Io_a is in a 14 seed regional (Ind. State). It looks like losing the B1G is in your favor.... hmmmmm

19-40 overall, 8-16 in the American Athletic Conference. Started the season 1-10, had a three-game winning streak in mid-March. Other than that, they didn't win consecutive games until the conference tournament, when they won back-to-back games twice sandwiched around a loss to Houston. Beat 41-15 East Carolina for the title.
They get #5 national seed LSU in the first round. At least it's a short trip.

Yes. Having so much weight in the RPI is just dumb. Iowa beat Indiana State once already this year and UNC will be without their stud CF. Which means Iowa will go 0-2.
Especially when Iowas RPI is only like 3 spots ahead of Maryland . Maryland won 3of 4 games head to head and Won the conference you would think that would outweigh the Close RPI.
About the only thing that makes sense is they gave Iowa the nod for a more difficult/successful non conference schedule. If I was a Maryland fan, I’d be pissed. But since I’m an Iowa fan…..
Can’t disagree, That said on the Big show covering the tourney draws they said travel distance is a factor that the baseball selection committee weighs somewhat heavily. Like SW said, If I was a Terp fan I would be pissed, since I’m not, Tough break Maryland.
Iowa has a really favorable region, So as a Hawk fan I am fully prepared for them to piss down their leg.
I would agree on travel also. I put in another thread about the softball regionals . You can’t convince me Nebraska and Wichita State were sent to Stillwater for the seeding over the fact they were 2 and 7 hours from Stillwater.
It’s like the NCAA Basketball tournament there is always some teams that get seeded over others that are head scratchers .
It’s also similar in that no B1G team will be participating past the first weekend

They don’t throw enough strikes
All those walks may not come back to bite in the shallow, weak-hitting B1G, but they’ll make for long innings in the tourney against patient lineups

Nah that Mayland got the hose job by getting the Wake Forest regional where Iowa got the easiest regional in the torunament. Iowa must have dirt on the B1G and NCAA they always get easy schedules. Iowa has already beaten Indiana State this year.
Hell Iowa may make it to Omaha. We all have seen Arkansas choke.
Most of the time the Hogs end their season in Omaha..
The Covid year we were their it was a tough regional and they didn’t make it being the #1 seed..
This is Rick Heller best team and they have the opportunity making it to Omaha..
Would be good for the conference if two B1G teams make it to the Super Regionals..
