Did being Uncle Donnie help with the retention? Sure. But when he retained Raiola, he said Donnie just kept coming into work while the others were at home waiting to be fired and that he and Raiola have the same approach and philosophy to coaching OL. If Rhule has a competent line coach who he is sympatico with in terms of coaching approach, that stands on its own. That he is the uncle of two very good young QBs had something to do with him being in Lincoln in the first place, and advantaged him in being retained during the coaching transition. And rather than there being something wrong with that, it’s actually a bonus for the program.I mean, one could look at it that way and the logic is pretty sound. But it really doesn’t account for the fact that our NFL caliber starting QB is also his(Donnie’s) nephew. If there wasn’t strong connection between our best player and our O-line coach your logic would be a lot harder to poke wholes. JMO
