Moses Bryant

I haven't seen him play, but have definitely heard about him. Knew he was academic risk.... how does he compare to the guys on the roster? Lots of comparisons to Jaylin Bradley but what do folks think?

Ive seen him play 3-4 times in HS and several youth games. Yes, very similar in body style to Bradley, maybe a little bigger. Good burst off the cut, less side to side wiggle than Wilbon, could have higher top end speed. Very smooth- is faster than he looks because he seems to glide out there. Can catch the ball as well.

Very good get as a walk on

Im missing something- not sure why he didnt have a bunch of FCS and DII offers.

I have to believe part of the ranking of this young man was based on would he be eligible to play his freshman year in college. I've talked to multiple people that have played against him that are good quality athletes in the state and they've all said he's pretty damn good. Maybe not that Elite top end speed but he's very very good

This staff has pulled in some good walk ons and a lot of them. They have proved me wrong about the number they are taking. Not sure if any of these guys have any FCS or lower level FBS offers or not, but it seems there are some quality gets here. Moses is a 3 star talent they are getting to walk on. My guess is that the coaches know a few transfers will be happening(5-10 is my guess) and that will open up a scholly for him in the summer.

This defeats the..
"people don't wanna walk on anymore" narrative.
More like "players need to feel wanted".
Riley did a good job getting some very good Walk ons, but this year it really turned on. Probably because the head coach is so involved.
This is not a knock on Rileys efforts regarding walk ons, I thought we had good walk ons. This is just another level we thought we'd never see again. Nope, guess we will.
This is huge.

Moses has the test scores to qualify but his gpa was just a tad low. He should be good by the time he graduates if he finishes strong. Moses wants to play for the huskers and won’t settle for anything else, hence the walk on. He’s a bright kid and a great athlete.

Sounds like he will get a scholarship if he finishes school strong and if they have an open spot this fall. Very proud of Moses and can’t wait to watch him in scarlet and cream!

Size/speed combo is an issue with D1 recruiters. He's not 6'0, nor is he 190, and he's a 4.7 kid. That being said, the kid flat-out produces. Great get as a walk-on.

I don't believe this defeats any narrative. There are still many kids from Nebraska that will accept a scholarship elsewhere over walking on at Nebraska. The narrative is now, has been and will continue to be that some families don't want to, or cant afford to send their kid to walk on when they can get a full ride somewhere else.

What I am hearing, in this particular situation, is that Bryant will be on scholarship in the summer/ fall, and that this is a bit of a shell game with scholarships. Even if Frost believes kids will leave after spring, he doesn't know who. As of Wednesday, Nebraska still has to be at or below the 88 number, or have told the Big Ten who will be leaving after the spring semester in order to be above the 88 number. With that said, I am told that because Bryant still has work to do in the classroom that this is a way to get him in the class without him signing an NLI and counting against the 88. That allows Nebraska to max out on the offers and NLIs, knowing there will be attrition after spring ball but not using one on Bryant. Then come June, if Bryant has done what he needs to do in the classroom, there will be a scholarship waiting for him.

5 - 10 seems like a lot. Realistically, I don't see that many, but the changes are happening within the program with new leadership, so if any players would rather be lazy, I sure hope they leave.

Quite a few players on the roster that have been called soft. Hopefully its those players that leave. We need players that want to kick a$$ and put for the effort needed and expected from Front and his staff.

How does Frost make room for everyone that he wants to sign? Does he not renew scholarships given to walk-ons by the previous staff?

If I got to choose 10 players that decided to leave (or remove scholarship to make room) that wouldn't kill the lack of depth (CB), I would choose from the 13 of those in red above.

To be the best, you have to have the best players and best depth. You can't let your emotional attachments get in the way. When a player will never be in the top 2 again due to injuries (concussions, knee issues, etc), then it is time to allow those players to move on to a lesser program where they may be able to contribute and play (see Bama, OSU).

Frost better have spent some one-on-one time with these players to see what their thoughts and plans are for their future if he wants to find out who will move on. I doubt he has had much one-on-one time with any players, so I really think him knowing these players by NSD is a stretch. I hope he finds a way to get as many recruits as he wants in this class.

I'd be shocked if Ben Miles stays. We have no use for a fullback.

We are using too many scholarships on tight ends for this offense. I hope a couple of them move on.

Not a bad list. Not sure about Conrad leaving as he may be a starter this year. Not sure about Gaylord, Ozigbo or Wilbon either. Nobody really knows what's up with Bryant either. The others wouldn't surprise me. I also wouldn't be shocked to see a tight end or two bulked up and moved to tackle at some point.

I wouldn't call players like Ben Miles, Tre Bryant, Wilbon, Ozigbo, or even Jordan Ober soft because they happen to play the wrong position, have had injuries, or just don't fit Frosts schemes.

With the injuries, I agree with you that you can't have guys like Adam Taylor or Darlington taking up space on the roster. However, how do you know a player won't be able to make the 2 deep? Especially with guys who have started and played pretty well. Bryant may not be as bad as thought and may end up getting back up towards the top of the depth chart. The same with Luke Gifford.

Some of these players have played hard for Nebraska when many of their teammates weren't. They played hard even though they weren't getting the best coaching. They chose to play for Nebraska even without a Scott Frost coaching here. I'm not going to celebrate that they could be leaving to make room for some project players.

Works for me...not that anyone was asking.

Why would Jordan Ober transfer? He's been the starting Long Snapper since his freshman year, and has played in every game as the LS. He's done pretty well too, I don't remember many (or any) issues from that end on special teams.

I wouldn't call those guys soft either. Many players have been called soft on the team though under Riley, but definitely not Miles, Bryant, Wilbon, or Ozigbo. Those guys just happened to be guys on my list of trying to get 5-10 players who could leave the program if I had to choose.

At UCF, there was no fullback and maybe Frost adjusts to have a couple plays with the FB, but I just don't see it happening, so he basically has no role on the team unless he switches to RB or defense.

With the incoming players (Bell, Jones, and maybe Washington), we could handle losing one or two of Tre, Mikale, and Devine if we had to drop 5-10 players to make room for the incoming class.

It's very unfortunate when an injury derails a player with promise, a la Taylor. When he signed, I envisioned the next Adrian Peterson and kicking some major butt in college.

As far as making the 2-deep this year, I think there is a big chance that we see an enormous shakeup in the 2-deep. Many of the players in backup roles could surprise when given the opportunity to shine in practice. Some of the players I circled in red could definitely step up into that role, and in some cases, stay in that 2-deep role.

As far as current players leaving for an incoming project, that happens when a current player is 3rd string, in his 3rd or 4th year in the program, and the players ahead of him are the same age or younger. Then the coaches let said current players leave and replace them with an incoming 'project' with high potential and that 'project' gets a couple years to develop and become a 2-deep player.

I just tried to come up with some players that could move on in order to make room. I think Frost and his staff will get a ton of effort from the current players on the roster. This team could really surprise people next year and I am one of the Kool-aid drinkers that hope they will and have a chance to get to 9 or 10 wins.

No way he transfers. Like I mentioned, I don't realistically see 5-10 players leaving unless they are soft and can't handle the Frost regime and effort required and leave on their own.

Frost is "stuck" with these players and that doesn't necessarily mean its a bad thing or that they are bad players. I was just trying to come up with that many players and who I would choose. Ober does good, but I could see him easily being replaced by a walk-on in order to open scholarships.

I still don't think he will transfer, but Frost is preparing for the future after Ober leaves.

We just got our 2nd Long snapper walk-on of the class.

No more scholarships to long snappers.
