I realize from the tenor of comments on this board that there isn’t much excitement for Bill Moos to be our AD going forward. I want to give you some information that might entice you to reconsider that position.

First, I have lived in Western Nebraska and Eastern Washington for 42 out of my 52 years. I taught at WSU, my wife is a WSU grad. I go to games at Martin Stadium when NU has a bye. This is a fit! Chancellor Green talked about fit as a key criteria in the hire and if you’ve worked for a number of organizations it doesn’t take long to determine he is correct. My kids ask me Dad, should I take this job and the first answer is always “do you think you’ll fit the culture and the vision.” Moos will be a hit with fans. Eastern Washington looks so much like NE and the values are similar. His ag roots are legitimate.

Second, I attended Law School at Oregon right up to his hire. It was an afterthought of the sports world. Going back this fall for the game I was stunned by what it had become. Moos is the architect of that change. WSU has similarly been upgraded.

Third, the guy knows and loves football. All PAC-8 honors a couple of times. He will evaluate the program carefully. It’s a good outcome to bridge the divide between those who want Riley and those who don’t. He’ll give Mike a fair review yet be uncompromising is his demand for success.

Fourth, he is seasoned. He does things the old fashioned way and isn’t caught up totally in Moneyball metrics. I know this may not appeal to our millennial fans but he will work his butt off like us old people do. He will treat you like you matter cause he puts on the shit-stained jeans many of us have.

Fifth, his age gives him knowledge and credibility with the Tradition Coalition and allows him to know what a unique opportunity Nebraska presents. That’s huge.

He’s a people person and folks at WSU I’ve contacted respect and like him. He is accessible and will make sure there is no confusion about whose paying the bill. His experience in running a program in remote places will help immensely in hiring and recruiting.

Good hire for the Huskers and I welcome an Eastern Washingtonian to the plains of Nebraska. He’ll feel at home.
