As most of you know Minnesota is upping the ante in facilities in the B1G conference by building a state of the art 166 million dollar facility which is on schedule to be finished January 2018.Including a Men's and Women's Basketball facility.

Always felt Minnesota is a sleeping giant and with this new facility and a fiery new Head Coach the Gophers could be a program to be reckon with in the near future more so than Wisconsin and Iowa.

I don't know what improvements Wisconsin has done lately on improving their facilities but recently Iowa and Northwestern have moved forward to improve their's tremendously.

Realize Nebraska has one of the best facilities not only in the B1G but also the country I just hope we continue to upgrade ours in the future with the massive income we will be making in the future and not fall behind in this important area.

As long as football and a few other sports such as Women's Volley Ball remain of big interest to fans, UNL will keep spending the money on upgrades as needed.

Absolutely. Keeping guys like Bray and the Williams boys happy is key. Best recruiters. Also, finally shelling out big bucks to get top flight coordinators like Diaco. If he turns us back to the old Blackshirts give him a blank check to keep him here. No more nickel and dime BS and hiring brothers and no names just so they won't challenge your authority.

Conference money is an equalizer. Competitively dollar-wise, NU was better off in the old days against schools like Minnesota because we had much larger ticket sales, logo sales, donations, etc. TV money lets all those Big 10 teams with no fan support upgrade their facilities to better compete with us for recruits.

Amen to that, everyone agrees it is harder to recruit here and most then agree because of that we can't hire a Saban. But throw top money at assistant coaches and see what happens we found out we can hire top guys. I feel we should be at the top or near the top of Assistant coaching salary pools. It also I believes resets expectations if you hire a guy like Read the we get all the excuses for why we can't recruit but throw 700 or more at a non coordinator and I think people would be surprised how many top recruiters we could hire

I think we could be a destination job for asst coaches if we shell out the money

Callahan and Riley put Bo's nonsense to bed about it being too hard to recruit to Lincoln. Loser talk. Put in the work, develop relationships with kids with top coaches. Get them here. Camps.,etc. Embrace social media. Use it to your advantage and the top recruits will come. Just gotta put in work. We all know NU is special. Just have to show the recruits.

The problem with Minnesota is that there are only about 20000 people in the state care about them. They play in Viking country

It's ironic that the Gophers last Rose Bowl appearance ( 1961) after the 1960 season the very next season the Vikings played their first season in the NFL... It's been a uphill battle ever since, but bad Coaching hiring and moving away from campus into the Metrodome really doomed their football program.

Step by step Riley is rebuilding this program. We'll be a consistent top ten power within a couple years. Coach has weathered the bad culture left over from the previous staff. He has found great assistant coaches that are top notch recruiters. He has HIS QBs in the system. The fan base continues to be as hungry as ever. $$$$ is pouring into the program. There have been a few bumps in the road but I'm very proud of what he's done and excited for where we are headed!!! Minnesota can build all they want but it's only a matter of time til we rule the West division.

Great post. Lincoln isn't the hardest, but certainly not the easiest either. It's so important to always keep good recruiters here. Open up the check book, and do what it takes.

Over the past 30 years Minny has had the next great thing several times...gutenkust(most won't remember him), Wacker(him either), mason, Brewster, etc...the only thing they get right is hiring clowns. Facilities are exceptional everywhere for the most part. Think what you want, but Mr Row the Boat will most likely be this generation's Jim Wacker.

Iowa, Wisconsin and Nebraska will continue to be the standard bearers in the west year in and year out. History and tradition mean something in cfb..... the Minny tradition is having a clown as a head coach, cynical local media, recruiting violations, and athletic dept scandal.

We have a couple great ones right now. I wish the AD would give Keith Williams a salary that nobody would touch. He is the REAL deal. We NEED to keep him.

Also, we must continue to keep up with the Jones'es on facilities. Ours are some of the best in the country.... but there will always be other programs gunning for the best too.

This is key to the Huskers struggle back to the top. TV money. There's so much of it now. Back in the 70's and 80's, the stadium sell outs alone gave Nebraska much more money than 80% of the rest of the teams. Now, everyone has plenty of money. Some just have more.
