Michigan St. head coaching candidates

feels like a very unattractive job to me, so they should be thrilled if Narduzzi wants it.

no real history of success, you're the in-state little brother, no legitimate chance of being a contender in the conference again, weird sexual perversion scandals everywhere you look.

Elko can probably have the Texas A&M job after this year or next if he wants it, would be very shocking if he settles for the 8th most attractive job in the B1G.

These early season firings at P5 schools reek havoc for every team out there with a valid candidate... I understand MSU's desire to get a top coach asap much like NU last year but dang... for the players at all the schools it sure is a mess and leaves a stench

Dickert yes.

Smith could very well be a lifelong Beaver given he's an alum. Maybe he gives NFL a try
i've followed smith for a few years now and am really impressed with his tough as nails approach and how his club competes. osu gets utah tonight. i thought he might make N's list last year, maybe he was on it?

i know little of dickert, he's 40.

People forget Sparty is one of 3 B1G teams to ever make the playoff

8th best job in B1G?

Lol. It’s a much more attractive job than any in the west besides Nebraska.

2 mega billionaire alums committed to NIL

I believe he was OrSt's starting QB the year they went 11-1 and crushed Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl.

Money talks, but I have to imagine he wants to take his alma mater back to those heights first.

How can a job be unattractive if they hand out $9.5M per to a guy like Tucker? The money in the B1G is huge and getting orders of magnitude bigger.

Oregon State quarterback Jonathan Smith threw for 305 yards and three touchdowns to lead the favored Beavers to a 41–9 rout. Wide receiver Chad Johnson had two touchdown receptions, and future Cincinnati Bengals teammate T. J. Houshmandzadeh caught the other.

Was throwing to Ocho Cinco and Housh!

i remember luke fickell turning down michigan state before later taking wisconsin which i'd consider a better job given they own the state.

Wisconsin has no financial support, a meddling AD and less success in the playoff era than sparty

All in the shadow of the packers, who really own the state

the two aren’t close IMO

Sparty has 3 guaranteed marquee games/season and four if it’s their turn to play ND

Wisconsin operates in total anonymity

nah, we just remember squeaking by Iowa and 38-0. not to mention losing to Mike Riley (lol) and flukey plays against Michigan & Ohio State that year.
8th best job in B1G?
well he can't be a B1G coach in 2023, so lets take a look:

1) Ohio State
2) Penn State
3) Michigan
4) Nebraska
5) USC
6) Oregon
7) Washington

depends. if you're an OC/DC looking to be a head coach for the first time, it's pretty great.

if you're a guy who made a perpetual doormat beat conference titans in year 2, you can write your own check to wherever you want. and places like this are probably pretty low on that list:

This "owning the state" argument is nonsense in modern college football. First, there's more talent in the Michigan/Ohio/surrounding area footprint than you can shake a stick at. I'd give up "owning Nebraska" to share Michigan with Meatchicken any day. Second, the B1G is going nationwide anyway and those regional rivalries are going the way of the horse drawn buggy. All that will matter are exposure and resources, and MSU has plenty of both.

I think it will be the Nard Dog. I don't think Sparty has the patience to break in someone younger with more promise.

BIG salary is the attraction.

Oregon St is going to be in the Mountain West next year. The only heights MWC teams see is the Vegas Bowl.
