Michigan -4.5 Is Penix a better qb than Milroe?

If you can't get pressure on Penix, they are going to move the ball. They have all year. Then Michigan's offense has to score points.
UM's team is built around the defense, which they expect to control the game. They pressure Penix, they win. If they don't they will be on the back foot and probably not win.
For the majority of the year you are correct. There were 3 games this year where they were held in check by teams that I wouldn't consider to be great defenses. Oregon St, Arizona St and Washington St. In all 3 games they were held to less than 24 points and less than 17 or less 1st downs. They averaged nearly 25 1st downs per game. The games were close, 3 points or less except for Arizona St, a 15-8 win. In the ASU game Penix threw 2 picks, against WSU 1 and none against OSU. So they can have some down games and Penix can play to a level less than we have seen the last couple of weeks.

I'm thinking Washington's offensive line keeps him clean.

can easily say the same for Michigan

haven't seen anything close to this kind of speed/skill on the outside or Penix, who lit them up the only time he played them at Indiana.

Washington has the best OL in the country. something nobody here is discussing, because nobody here has seen them play more than maybe twice all season.

same Texas DL that owned Bama was completely neutralized by this UW OL.
+ a qb that knew how to work the pocket

Michigan's corners and safeties are top shelf. It'll be interesting to see how they matchup to Washington's excellent receiving corps. It'll be a battle for sure.

If Pennix has all day to throw, Washington will probably win. You can't just drop into coverage and let him sit back there like Auburn vs Alabama 4th and goal from the 32 yard line.

I think the rest of Michigan's defense is more than a little salty too. Don't think Penix will have all day to throw.

Neither do I. Pennix looked unbeatable vs Texas, but much more mortal in most of his other games. Should be a fun game of contrasting styles.

Pennix has a natural ability of stepping up in the pocket and making quick decisions. His calmness in the pocket makes passing seem easy. But he’s going to make a lot or lose a a lot of money displaying what he can do against a really good Michigan pass rush.

I just think it's going to be a close game and Washington is battle tested and used to playing in close games. Michigan showed signs of feeling the pressure with all their special teams miscues.

I also think it's an advantage that Washington has played so many good qbs. Washington has faced Bo Nix twice, Caleb Williams, Cam Ward, Quinn Ewers. Who is the best qb Michigan has faced? McCord? Milroe? Tua's brother? Could be wrong but Penix's accuracy could be a problem with those weapons compared to what they are used to.

Being "used to playing in close games" is not an accolade. Michigan only beating Maryland by one score is not a feather in the Wolverine's hat.

Pennix is the most NFL ready QB though. And their receivers might be the best in the country.

Nick Saban said today that a huge factor in the game was that Michigan huddled on offense

first team they played all year that did that

defense couldn't get calls in on time/adjust because the offense wasn't calling their plays at the line in their formation

sometimes it's that simple, he said

Here it comes!

The excuse train!

"Now that I think about it, Pennix might be a HOFer and well, their WR's are probably all first round picks"

WTF are you talking about?

Have you seen Pennix play? Did you watch the Sugar Bowl? He may be the best QB in the country. And Washington's Odunze is Marvin Harrison Jr. good.

How many PAT's did you botch during the regular season? How about muffed punts? Unforced mistakes that looked liked you were feeling the pressure. I don't watch all your games though, maybe you just have shitty special teams?

Laying it on even thicker!

Wolf fans so worried, worried about losing as the favorite, that they are starting to jock up the Huskies as much as they can.

Who's a good boy, who's a good boy...wolf fan is a good boy.
